Haunted castles tours?

Hi everyone,
I'm a French student writing about ghost tours & haunted castles tours in UK.
Could you answer these questions for my survey? This would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

1) Why are you interested in haunted castles? What do you expect when you are visiting a haunted castle?

2) Would you visit these places if there weren't any "strange" phenomenons?

3) Do you think it's better to go visit these places by yourself or book tickets from a tour operator?

i dont visit spooky castles so cant help you there, im sure there a lot of people on here that can though Wink

Welcome to the forums ofilea, Not from the UK but I will take a crack at your survey,

1) Haunted castles,being as old as they are and mostly built for defense seem to be a mecca for ghosts. Ghost hunters look for places like this for obvious reasons.
2) I would still visit them for many reasons, History, architecture, curiosity.
3) I think you need both. The tours can give you history and other information that would be helpful when you THEN go back for your private hunt.

Ok, my views..

1) I'm fascinated with history, and also have an interest in the paranormal. For this reason I enjoy haunted castles, plus they often have such a fascinating atmosphere

2)I visit lots of old places, haunted or not, as they interest me. having said that, i believe most places are haunted, just that some are more noticeable than others

3)Guides are great, but tours can be too crowded, or you end up with people not taking it seriously. Would generally rather go alone, but ideally with someone who knows the place.
