I always put card reading in the same category as parlor games.

Tarot Cards. How do you know when one is 'inverted'? Is it from the point of view of the one doing the reading? Or the person having the reading done? When a card is 'inverted', it can become either 'positive' or 'negative', depending on the original meaning of the card. Then there's the Hanged Man and Death, who may not be literal. And no two people can agree on how to shuffle them. Or turn them over. All very muddled, especially considering the wide variety of Decks available. |

All I can get from tea leaves is a decent cuppa I think they are something for a medium to focus one, while she considers what to 'conjur up next' in her Crystal Ball, DB ''You will meet a Tall Dark Stranger'' is the stock phrase. We all do, eventually, dear. He's called Death. I would like to know how many mediums win the Lottery?? And as for Astrology... same constellations...some many different 'interpretations'. |

I tried someone who knows how to read a tarot card, everything she says are generalizations, no specifics so I don't know if it's really true.. Me and my friends did it just for our curiousity, it's funny yet scary. |

Just the same cold and hot reading that Mediums use but wrapped up in different mumbo jumbo.

Cold reading is like a dance, when done well it's beautiful to watch. |

As long as it's 'for entertainment purposes' only and performed with flair and showmanship. When it's done to exploit those who are grieving or looking for hope - then it's ugly and harmful.

True, however any reading is exploiting someones belief. I do a three card Tarot reading where I put the cards face down & read what the person is , how they came to be here & where they are going. I read each cards symbolism & then I turn it over to prove my knowledge & ability.
I do this one card at a time & I fully admit to doing it that way to fully exploit their experience.
The person needs to shuffle the cards, leaving their thoughts as empty as possible, to allow the cards to feel them. They then choose three cards & place them in a position chosen by them. At no time, do I have any control over the cards & I exspoit that & the effect to it's fullest.
I don't ask them what they want to know, I don't tell them what I think they want to hear. I just use my ability to read the cards & I prove that ability to them by doing it with the cards face down.
Edited to add, I cold read using methods written about by Kenton Knepper etc. And if I get it wrong I get two yes's from a no, by saying will you do something for me? Will you go away & think about it? As people remember a yes. |
