Having had paranormal experiences since I was four, I have long since passed the "believing" stage. There are some things in this world that cannot, and probably will not ever, be proved--one simply has to know.

So it is with me and ghosts. Not only have I experienced strange paranormal happenings with no logical explanation, but I have recorded countless EVPs that convince me that unseen entities do indeed exist. Whether all of the recordings are "ghosts" remains to be ...er, unseen. Some could simply be beings from another dimension, totally unrelated to what we call ghosts--maybe they're extraterrestrials, angels, or...?

But the large majority do seem to be spirit persons who have passed on, judging by their comments and responses to my questions. I seem to get mostly those who are lost, asking for help, or malevolent ones who like to threaten and try to scare me off. I think I may be here on this planet to do spirit rescue, so I am commencing my studies in that area in an effort to find out why these entities have seemingly followed me most of my life---I think every place I have lived has been haunted, and believe me, I've lived many many places!

As for seeing ghosts, I see lots of spirit lights and sometimes dark shadows, plus a few really strange things I cannot explain. A few days ago I slowed my car as I was taking my son to school because I saw someone walking across the road...only to find there was no one there. I know the person did not disappear because I had full view of the yard where the "person" was headed.

My first unexplainable was when I was four: I saw a dark man walk past the end of the bed. Being four, I thought he was a burglar and tried desperately to wake my mother, who was asleep next to me. The figure of the man was absolutely black from head to toe, as if he was wearing a totally black Spiderman-type costume, but with NO shadows or color gradations of any kind. He paid no attention to me trying to get my mother's attention, just proceeding to tiptoe past the end of the bed. I was NOT asleep, and to this day I can see that image as clearly in my mind as I did all those years ago. I have no idea where he went, as he sort of just seemed to disappear.

More recently, I saw a similar dark shape at work, in the middle of the day. I was sitting at my computer, and out of the corner of my eye saw this person heading towards my desk. Since I hadn't heard the door open, I looked up, and the moment I did the person JUMPED BACK, faster than any human could possibly move. Staring, I got up to see if he had gone into the kitchen, which is the only place he could have gone, but there was no one there.

I have recorded a man's whisper at work before, in, of all places, the ladies' room! Though I cannot say whether it was the same man.

These are just a few examples. Many of my paranormal experiences I have threaded together in my true-life novel Giving Up the Ghost: The Walk-In, so I don't want to give away too much here. If you're interested, please check out the site (http://www.lulu.com/soulworks), where you can read a short excerpt.

Looking forward to reading some of YOUR experiences! :D

In my opinion ghosts are people just without their body. They are the same people they were before they died. Some are good and some aren't just like the living.

Yes, they are the same people they were before they died – some people think we suddenly get wiser or enlightened after we cross over, but in my experience this isn’t the case.

As for not talking to you, Jimmie, they probably are --- you’re just not listening! Wink LOL
Fortunately we have a choice as to whether we want to listen or not.

Well, at least most of us do.

My thoughts....

Everyone has a "spirit" inside them.. I have heard that since our thoughts and such are mostly made up of electric impulses, this could be concidered our "spirit"

I like to explain in this way: Our bodies are like a car (bare with me here) Much like our bodies, a car needs fuel to run, gives of exhaust gases (no pun intened) can be broken and sometimes repaired etc. So picture your "spirit" like the driver of a car. The car can run on its own, can drive on it's own in certain circumstances, but without a driver to direct it, it don't do much else. Our spirit is the "driver" of our bodies. It controls everything. Like a car our bodies can run without the driver but cannot do much else. It will go till it runs out of fuel then it shuts down and will eventually return to dust (or rust).

Hope this makes sense to you.

Ghost are stuck "in time" they seem to live the same day over and over.

I have heard that to ghost, we are the "dead".. not sure I believe that but we will never know till we see it from the ghost's point of view

Ghosts are very complex subject, as there are many types [the following list is by know means exhaustive]:-

Classic Ghosts
These are straight forward hauntings, often 'replaying' tragic events, in the manner of a video tape. It has been speculated, and I believe this, that places [esp buildings] can 'record' happenings. And, if your are atuned to that site's 'wavelength', then your brain turns that 'transmition' into an apparition. A bit like your TV tranforming transmitted signals into a picture.

Most hauntings of this type are non-interactive. In other words, is unaware of the observer's presence, as they a simply 're-enacting' an event from their lives. Thus, they can walk through doors long since blocked up. Or on floors that no longer exist.

Crisis Ghosts
When someone is in trouble, or their life is in danger, they may think of someone close to them. And be able to 'project' themselves to that person, appearing a real being. One famous case is that of Admiral Sir George Tryon [22 June 1893].

Dopplegangers
When a person can project a 'double' of themselves to another location. And literally appear 'to be in two places at once'. It's another form of 'astral projection'.

Poltergeists
Literally 'noisy ghost'.These seem to be the most interactive. Known for their tendency to move, hurtle or hide objects. They can be harmless or dangerous. The activity can centre on a specific individual.

Ghostly Animals
From apparitions of dogs, cats, etc, to more frightening phantoms like spectral hounds [the famous Black Dog type]

Inanimate Ghosts
We've all heard of 'ghost trains' and 'ghost ships', but buses, cars, any type of vehicle can feature. There are also mundane objects - ordinary items that can manifest themselves.

Mists, clouds, vapours, and 'orbs'

Time Slip Apparations
When you suddenly, and in explicably find yourself 'transported' to another era without actually moving geographically. In other words, you see a place as it was at some point in its past. A bit like a 'time storm'. There is a really good book on the subject by Jenny Randle [published 2001].

One of the most famous is the Versailles Timeslip [10 August 1901]. Experienced by Eleanor Jourdain and Charlotte "Annie" Moberley, it was recounted in their book An Adventure.

Full Body Manifestations
The type that appear in photos when they've been developed, although the 'individual' is not apparent when the picture was taken.

Hi bitterbuck and flossy. That's OK. Very Happy Until I started looking into the subject of ghosts and apparitions, I didn't realise how many types there are! And, as I said, the list I've posted is by no means comprehensive. No doubt people can think of types I've missed...

The 'non-paranormal' type of 'doppleganger' is someone who resembles you so closely that mistaken identity occurs. When I was at Uni in the mid-90s, that happened to me.

A classmate of mine was very miffed that I hadn't greeted them when we passed in a corridor. But when I asked at what time that happened, I told her I was actually in the Uni Library! After I'd managed to convince her it wasn't me, she looked stunned, and replied "well, there's someone here that looks so much like you, it's uncanny!" Shocked
