...as there is no "off" topic section that I can see, if there is, could a mod please move?
We are on a bit of a emotional rollercoaster at the minute, my missus wasnt due to give birth until the end of january, but he arrived on the 8th of november.
We called him George and he weighed 2lb 1oz, currently in a Neo Natal Unit. Babs was allowed home tonight but finding it hard not being near him.
He has had quite a things done to help him, including hooked up to a respirator, more lines than the london underground, blood transfusion and a lumbar punch.
All pretty scary stuff to watch but he seems comfortable and doc's are happy with his progress and condition. He has even had a pee on a couple of the nurses!
Im sure it will go with out saying and I find it difficult to ask for things but if every one could maybe think of him or even mention him in your prayers if you do pray(I know I have!), it would be appreciated.
I hope no one minds us asking, Im guessing more good vibes will do know harm.
Many Thanks In Advance.

Hi Carl,
George will be in my thoughts, which is just as good as in any prayers. Here's wishing him the strength to grow so that you're able to take him home. Take comfort in the positive words of the medical professionals and may he have many more wees.

I wont go into too many details because I will cry like an idiot,
The ventilator his keeping him breathing because of problems with his lungs, one has repaired itself, the other is quite badly damaged but may recover to a comfortable state.
All his levels have been up and down while the ventilator has been used to control them, after serious chats today with the doctor we are running low on options.
What we have decided has been changed due to George behaving himself tonight, his blood gases are remaining very good, as is his blood pressure and O2 saturation and the ventilator has been turned down! hopefully we have come out of the rut and are on the road to improvement.
Thanks to every one for thinking of us and supporting us, it means so much to me.
Will try and keep you updated as and when I can.

Thanks Carlos, I'm not with you in body but I'm with George in mind and thinking positive for his health - the ventilator being turned down is a very good sign - let's hope it's the start of more.

Well this time last week the docs were concerned for George and we had to go through some not very nice options.
Fortunatley since then he has steadily been on the up, with no need for any choices being made, he made his own!
Saturday he had a cuddle with mum, then same with me on Sunday, Monday he decided to block his ventilator so the docs removed it and gave him the "snorkel" that sits on his nose again, seems to be holding up well on that and everything holding steady.
Last night he got put down mums top for some skin to skin contact and he happily snoozed for around an hour and a half.
He definatley holding his own! |
