Let's see,
Keep an open mind, don't jump to any conclusions at the time. Test and re-test , debunk if you can. Make sure you know how to use any equipment you may be taking and have fresh batteries ready. Take along some snacks and drinks but be sure not to eat while doing the actual investigation, and have fun. |

I'm just dying to know why that is; Is there a perceived danger of choking at the sight of a ghost?
Was that a crunching sound on the gravel path outside? No wait - it's Pete sitting in the corner eating his fifth bag of crisps. |

Sound advice there
Also remember not to wear any perfume/aftershave this can detract from any smells you may have encounter.
If you feel yourself getting tired, take a time out nothing affects ghost hunting more than a low energy, have a break and come back charged after some snacks and a drink :)
Where you going in april? anywhere good? |

Yes, eating while investigating is in my opinion a bit unprofesional plus it will show up on audio equipment and might be mistaken for EVPs etc. Foil chip packages near some equipment could generate static giving false readings. |

In five years time, I never got rid of the one spirit from the battlefield. I will call him "Mike." He comes and goes. At all hours of the night and day I can feel him, hear him, and I think he wants something. Maybe closure, so he could go on to the other side. I called the pyschic and told her that we had to go back to the battlefield. She agreed to go with me, which I knew she would. Because she was the first to sense my paranoraml abilities. We left again for the 5 hour trip to eastern Pennsylvania, back to the battlefield where I first encountered Mike. I kept on getting cell phone calls like evey 15 minutes. At first I thought someone was playing a trick on me. The phone number wasn't showing up. But, I do remember hearing a voice that said to me "You're getting close", and that "You're finally here." I recognized the voice immediately it was Mike. My phone rang even more as we approached the small wooden bridge crossing a stream. I later found out the history of the bridge and found out why Mike wanted closure. Mike was hung during the Civil War for a war crime that he was said to have not committed. By this time we had already stopped at the bridge. I felt a sense of coldness under the bridge rafters, that was where Mike was hung. I saw a navy blue uniform of a man hanging from a noose.

Excellent advice. If only all groups who investigate followed this advice the numerous ghost discussion forums might not be so full of subjective illogical rubbish.

How would Mike know how to use a mobile phone?

I've often wondered the same. How do these "ghosts" know how to operate some of the equipment we place before them? Furthermore how is it that an EVP taken in another country may be spoken in the researchers language? I've been told that "they" are privy to a form of universal knowledge and that they, ghosts, just know how to do these thing. Granted it sounds like a cop out but I'm willing to play what if and continue to put these ideas to the test. I mean really it's no harder to believe that once we cross over we can access this universal knowledge bank, than it is to believe that ghosts do indeed exist. Why not? As of now we do not know either way and it all seems to be speculation, belief and outright faith in the unseen world that drives these great stories. |

People will often do double somersaults through hypothetical hoops to justify and explain why they believe something that they can provide virtually no explanation for is true.
Belief in god and creationism springs to mind as the biggest. The same thing has been happening for many years in that large country we call the Paranormal.
Electrical products and more importantly more complex electrical products such as TV's, mobile phones and computers develop problems and 'act out of character' due to their complex chip based processing and the sheer number of tasks they have to perform every second. They go wrong, simple as that.
The error that folks make is to associate these malfunctions with the supernatural when
the circumstances and location are conducive to their beliefs.
I've worked in tech support for one of the worlds biggest manufacturer of consumer electrical products and believe me, these things can act up, switch on, switch off and do all kinds of inexplicable things without any human contact.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'on a hunt' Flossy. You mean Ghost Hunt?. In my opinion there's no such thing as a ghost hunt because people don't know what the hell they're hunting - this is not a safari where the prey are Lions or Antelope.
There's no definition, no solidity, no form or function to a ghost so how can they be detected and hunted?.
