ADVICE PLEASE

Hi im getting alot of aggro from a similarly named group that i was involved with in my area. They started after me as I was an independent researcher for a good time, they recruited me as general lackie and location manager, basically an unpaid miracle worker, They are profit making but claim that they are not, however they mark up all their events to make money and do ghost walks and that kind of rubbish, yet claim to be serious investigators. What is everyones take on these greedy clubs? This club charges £10 per year membership as well and they have about 50 members, they do not declare tax or anything as they fiddle the books to make everything balance.

I left because for me its morally wrong, and im a serious investigator not a ghost walk actor.
They have also bought websites very similar to mine and pass themselves off as us to get bookings, its a nightmare !

The 'paranormal industry' is a bit of a moral minefield if one has any integrity in terms of being a serious researcher. I'm very familiar with the Edinburgh ghost scene and can understand that it is a legitimate, regulated industry that contributes much to the City's tourism pound - whether any genuine paranormal activity is ever encountered on the many Ghost Tours is doubtful and the tours are promoted as entertainment rather than serious investigations into the paranormal.
If this group is causing you problems then I'd be inclined to warn them off with a polite email advising that you're aware of their undeclared earnings. If they present themselves as 'serious researchers' and at the same time run 'Ghost Tours' then that would be a conflict of interests as far as I'm concerned and, if they have a forum/website, I'd be raising that conflict very vocally.
