Pilots, Policemen, Coastguards, Lawyers & Astronauts - all reputable credible observers but all human and all potentially capable of mistaking the data that their eyes send to their brain. I've men several Police Officers who claim to have seen UFO's including PC Alan Godfrey who was involved in the famous Todmorden UFO encounter - however they have the same sensory systems as everyone else and make the same errors of perception. They are also subject to their own biases and beliefs - many astronauts believe in god - does that mean god really exists.
In Earth orbit now there are thousands of pieces of debris - it's like a junkyard up there - furthermore that junk is visible for hundreds of miles due to the lack of atmosphere so it's not surprising that mistakes can be made.
How many orbital flights have been made by the Apollo, soyuz, skylab, MIR and space shuttle programmes - many many hundreds?.
How many people are permanently on the ISS - 6-8 at any one time. Multiply that by the number of astronauts on each flight that has ever either gone to the moon or gone into orbit and that's a lot of eyes for a lot of hours observing space yet we have just a handful of accounts purporting to describe encounters with what may or may not be alien craft.
Until one of those craft park up next to the Shuttle or the ISS I remain very sceptical.

Actually there are thousands of police cases.
They have there own site for reports aswell those ones that were jumped on by the mainstream.
I will pop in a link later.
The human brain is the most sophisticated object in the world, not some dodgey inacurate bit of jelly that can't be trusted. |

Yes of course there are many Police reports of strange lights etc that have been reported as UFO's. I'm well aware of the site you mention Agentscott. I agree that the human brain is amazing - possibly the most complex piece of evolution on the planet but if you've ever read anything about cognitive human psychology, neuroscience and human physiology you'll see that it's not a perfect recording or observational tool.
Have you never been fooled by optical illusions, by magicians and mentalists such as Derren Brown?. There are several areas, particularly in relation to observation and memory where the eyes and the brain are pretty poor.

Some.
Witness testimony is unreliable and subject to errors of recall and flawed original perception. It's also subject to bias and can be influenced by the way in which questions are asked. This is fact that has been extensively researched over many years by psychologists and neuroscientists.
