Okay so as we speak ive set up a camera and its now recording in my bedroom. Im hoping to catch something on it, even if its only a little thing just to prove to myself that there IS actually something in my house (yes i beleive already i just want to be sure something or someone is actually here). So im going to keep this running all night (you can see all of my bedroom thanks to my humongous mirror wardrobe thanks dad!! lol) and see if i can catch anything...if i do well you guys will be the first to see the footage :D

well i put it on my dvd storage cabnet which is in the corner of the room. But i haveit facing my wardrobe (which consists of 3 huge mirrors) from there you can see my entie bedroom. So i checked the footage last night (unfortunatley i was only able to record 1 and half hours due to the size of the tape) and i caught quite a few strange noises. Nothing major like things moving or anything just some weird noises. Also unfortunatley the camcorder i was using dosent have night vision on it so i was unable to record through the night. What i a going to do is find a camcorder with night vision on it and set it up at night.

The camcorder lost focus and regained it 6 times While it was doing this it made a funny sound too. I deffinetly think this is something i will try and get the video up asap

:) i will post it from where the camera lost focus. I have figured out what caused it. There is a focus button on the back of the camcorder and when you press it the camera goes out of focus when you press it again it refocuses. So something or someone must of pressed this button.

nope. There was noone else in the house as my parents had gone out. You can see this yourself when the camcorder loses focus as it was setup right in the corner of my room facing the door so if someone went into my room i would of known. But noone else was in the house or my bedroom at the time that this happened.

i started the recording roughly around half past 6 and it recorded for 1 and half hours..the point where the camcorder started losing focus was 1 hour 20 mins in so it was about 10 to 8 when it happened

you would really have to get a lot of recording time, like 100hrs lol - and check over it - because if anything did happen there might be patterns - it could be a residual haunting etc...

since you's suspected the main area of activity was the nephews cot when he was in it; I would focus on that first, although I know he doesn't be there all the time

Instead of a camcorder I would strongly recommend using an infrared CCTV camera combined with a portable DVR with motion detection. That way you can record as long as you want and you only have to review moments of actual activity, instead of hours of nothingness.
The DVR should have a horizontal motion recording resolution of at least 640 pixels. For indoor use you won't need a camera with a long illumination range, but the number of lines (often quoted as TVL) should match or exceed the vertical resolution of the recorder.
Some DVRs have built-in monitors which are useful for camera alignment, but ideally you'll need a means of viewing the output on either a computer monitor or a TV, the latter being by far the simplest.
It may sound complicated at first, but it's a far more versatile arrangement.
