Crawlies Smile

This is nothing paranormal, but I was wondering if anyone here has had this happen or knows what it is - sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night I think there is a spider dropping down from the roof, or going under my bed - a couple of nights ago it happened and it was a beetle going under my pillow - every other time it has been a spider - I don't really like spiders. When this happens I think I can see the spider; I think I'm in between dreaming and awake - it is annoying when it happens - I'm dead tired and I usually jump out of bed and shake the bedclothes to make sure there is nothing there, a couple of times I lifted the bed up when I thought it ran under it Laughing and I don't really be thinking straight because I've just woke up.

I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else or they know what it is - it doesn't happen me very often - maybe only 2 or 3 times a year probably.

When Im in bed at night I always feel like I can feel a spider crawling near my feet, I hate spiders so usually get up and look under the covers to double check haha Laughing . You can never be too sure when it comes to spiders Wink

My sister once had a huge spider run across her face in the middle of the night...ever since then I have to check for them under my pillows ...Im weird I know Laughing

Laughing yeah I used to check my bedclothes too before going to bed - it really is a silly little phobia lol, all in all I am not too bad now although I hate them ones that run quickly with the long legs, and earwigs too lol

I don't know if when this happens if I was dreaming about spiders or not and that is the reason they are in my head.

once i swear i seen a spider coming down from the ceiling right towards my head, i jumped out of bed a searched my bed but there was nothing there lol
if your really tired you can have illucinations so i put it down to that

makes you wounder if that is what people are seeing when they claim to see ghosts although at the time it is very real

That's the exact same as me lol. Yes maybe some ghost sightings which are seen when someone has just woke up are due to this, but the majority are seen when people are fully awake and conscious so it definitely doesn't explain them all IMO - I think that is called old hag syndrome.

But when it does happen with the spiders it takes me a minute or two to realise what happened, it's funny thinking about it now Laughing

Yeah it is known as old hag syndrome Smile ...the term comes from Newfoundland, people there would often recall having a feeling of something pushing down on their chest followed by seeing an 'old hag'. Its been found that those already familiar with 'old hag' are more likely to experience it, however I have heard a few accounts of 'old hag' syndrome taking place in York.

On average, a spider will go across your face 9 times each night, some times in your mouth aswell.

Not to sure how and where they researched this, but pretty certain its along the same lines as "your never more than 10ft away from a rat"

Actualy most ghost orientated sightings are experienced in half sleep, illness, old age and children. People tend to experience anomalous activity when day dreaming too. Between 7 and 14 htz brain frequency. It would be more interesting to me if you said you were waiking up at a particular time each night or suffering stress attacks when waking in the night. The spider thing is more likely to be an illusion caused by excessive brain activity and confused thought process's due to a lack of sleep and un used adrenaline. In my job its the relaxed mind which offers results, rather than the tired over worked one and there is a difference.

I don't believe that about a spider going across your face every night and in your mouth lol.

Iain Lawrence, I have heard of people waking up at the same time every night - why would that be interesting?
