I want to but I dont know. Maybe I am too skeptical. I have found that it is very hard to trust a lot of people involved in the paranormal.
Our psychic mediums do come up with alot of names (well one of them) and she also takes on physical disabilities such as limping etc but who is to say whether it is true or just purely a show.
This is why i need to go it alone and go with other groups to see how other mediums work etc.
I went to Valentines mansion with chris Conway and I did believe him. |

You can never be too sceptical - you can draw the wrong conclusions but being sceptical is simply the application of a method not a belief in itself.
People get involved in the paranormal for a variety of reasons - some want genuinely to push the envelope of human understanding, others want a laugh and a fright while others make a career out of it for financial gain and in doing so are prepared to deceive. Quite a lot of people are interested in finding out why and how people see (or believe they see) ghosts, UFO's and cryptids.
Mediums use a plethora of techniques to give the impression they're communicating with spirit or have special supernatural gifts - some are easily spotted while others are very very subtle and worthy of the best mentalists. At the end of the day there's no scientific evidence that supports the claims for ghosts or mediumship. There are anecdotes, subjective experiences and inconclusive video/sound clips and photographs.
I don't doubt for one second that most people are convinced that what they see and experience is supernatural in nature but I do doubt our abilities to accurately assess, remember and rationalise the information our senses send to our brains.

I dont think we will ever know for sure DB. We are all totally different and believe in different things. I will always be a skeptic unless a medium can prove otherwise to me on a personal level.

There is nothing wrong with being skeptical. Its good to go through possible explanations first. You cant jump to the conclusion that it is paranormal. That is just plain naivity. If you cant explain something then there is the possibility of it being paranormal but because too many people now are taking the p**s with ghost hunts, then it causes people to question everything! |

If 'what is put infront' of me is real evidence that is verified, tested and endorsed by reputable scientists and academics then I'll believe.
If on the other hand it's YouTube videos and anecdotes then that's nowhere near enough and certainly not compelling evidence especially when we're dealing with incredible claims such as UFO's and aliens Cactus.
The logical stance to take on any issue or claim is to assume that it is false unless it is proven true. Assuming it's true unless it's proven false is a mistake (the Argument to Ignorance fallacy we went over several times a week or two back).
If a claim requires breaking the laws of nature for it to be true then that's a safe bet that the claim is false.
It comes down to evidence (not opinion). If something is true then it should be provable with evidence; if something is false, looking for evidence that it is true will result in failure to find it. The state of evidence regarding the paranormal is in the second category. The logical deduction is that the paranormal therefore doesn't exist. It's a psychological artefact.

seekingspirits, yes i agree but i do believe you can be 'too' skeptical - have you ever seen a ghost? if so DB will tell you you have a faulty memory or it was an illusion or anything else, but will not ever consider the chance it was a spirit you witnessed. |

i am not like DB - i am not here to prove ghosts exist to anyone - i believe they are real, but i actually do respect his opinion now on a lot of things and he has his own beliefs |

No I have never seen a ghost and I never expect to if I am honest.
I have seen dark shadows but am not totally convinced as your mind and eyes do play tricks on you.
I will always urge on the side of being skeptical unless proved otherwise. |

if you do see one it will probably be when youre not expecting it
never say never - if you continue to travel around reportedly haunted locations you could get lucky
btw - i think you took it the wrong way before about asking were any substances used - i just wanted to rule it out and would still be interested in hearing about the shadow figure and you thought you were channelled |
