Hi everyone, I am hoping someone can enlighten me on a certain occurance.. A grea-Aunt of mine recently had a paranromal encounter or so she believes and it got me curious as to the meaning . Bearing in mind she recently lost her husband roughly 10 months ago, she has been somewhat unsettled and nervous to be on her own in the house so i am aware this may be a symptom or her anxiety however the believer in me wants to believe this was a visit from beyond.
At around 3pm one night a couple of weeks ago she was suddenly awakened as she felt someone in the room with her, As she turned to look towards the presence she saw in the darkness a Tall man (she believes to be male) in a long dark coat and with some sort of hat on his head stood beside the bed looking down at her...but the bit that intrigues me is that he was faceless!!!!! she said she screamed and rushed to switch the light on where he promptly vanished, this has left her terrified and she is now locking every single door to every single room in her house at night and barley sleeps during the night now too. What i want to know is is there any known meanings or causes as to why an apparition would be faceless? the only source i have found is the belief that the person felt ignored in life and therefore feels no need to have a identity in the afterlife.. even so why would that person be visiting her?, i don't believe it would be her recently deceased husband.Anyone else have any theories?

it could be what's known as a shadow person. They have the outline of a person but are all dark like a shadow . Quite alot of reports of shadow people say that they looked like they were wearing a hat |

Welcome to the forums Gem
Gav has a point. It could also be that it takes a lot of energy for an apparition to appear so the theory goes, A face may be left out.
What you need to do is let your Aunt know that these things don't hurt you. Let her know that if it does happen again, she should immediately ask it to "please leave me alone" and go back to sleep.
This is usually the first and easiest step. Has she had any other experiences since? |

Hi YB thanks for the welcome and for replying.
I did look into the shadow people theory (very intresting topic i must say) and yes it sounds very plausible and possible. She hasn't mentioned seeing anything since that one occasion though she is still very anxious at night about it all which is understandable.
I did already explain that they couldnt harm her etc, but i suppose when your a 70 something lady in a house on your own at night words leave little comfort, I just hope that it was a one off occurance for her.
I actually came on today because of something my boyfriend shocked me with yesterday.... very odd coincidence? and i had not mentioned the aunts incident to him A) he dosent know her and B) he dosen't really believe in this stuff.
He went to visit his parents last week and during the night on saturday he was suddenly awoken because he said he was sure someone was outside. he peeped through the gap in his curtains and he says hes 100% certain he saw a black shadowy figure, with what seemed no face bent over beside his car it didnt seem to be doing anything just bent over crooked by the back wheel, then he spotted another black as black shadow with the outline of a person moving slowly be the front of his car. He said he just felt an overwhelming sense of panic his heart was beating 10 to the dozen and he was frozen to the spot, suddenly he snapped out of it refocused and the shadows were gone. he was that spooked it took him over three hours to calm himself down. and he said he'd never felt so overcome with dread in his whole life, and hes done a full 22 years service for the british army and fought in many war zones, in the nine years ive known him ive never known him to be fazed or freaked out by anything.
I just thought it would be intresting to mention, i am very intrigued by it all !

Glad you found the shadow people topic interesting & that your great-aunt hasn't had another encounter, give her time & i'm sure she'll feel more at ease.
Thats really freaky that your boyfriend had a similar experience. It reminds me of a friend of mine who's been in the army for years & who's done many tours. We took him to a grave yard 1 night & i've never seen anyone so scared in my life. I said to him why are you scared, you go to some of the most dangerous places in the world? To which he replied I can shoot the enemy, but I can't shoot a ghost |
