I'd just like to ask this to the members who are actively involved in investigation.
Do you conduct your investigation in the dark, in the haunted location with the lights off?. If so why?

The only benefit is that of powering off ballasts which can give off large amounts of EMF. However if base lines are taken with lights on or off anomalous readings can be accounted for in any case. |

Thanks mrx3010, would I be correct in assuming you investigate with lights on then?

Some times we do, remember we also shoot some of our investigations and for effect we will shoot some scenes in the dark but the great majority of investigations are with lights on. |

hey. we at project-reveal have investigated in the day in heritage sites.. because... in my eyes spirits wouldnt stay up all night.. why would they?
if anything they would be around in day and alot of ghost photos are taking in day... more then night beleive it or not.
the main reason Ghost hunters or invetigators, Go out at night is for a number of reasons Less people. less noise, adds to the feel, and makes an ambient. and adds more fear, can play tricks on peoples minds.. and make it more interesting viewing for some...

Quite right IMO. As many if not more ghosts/paranormal experiences occur during the day than at night plus there's the added bonus of being able to see properly and therefore get a more accurate perception and grasp of what is actually going on.

"Ghost hunters" prefer to go out at nighttime to reduce interference from things like traffic, airplanes, and other people. However, actually being in the dark is not preferable. On TV it allows them to use high tech infrared gadgets and night vision cameras which make them look credible, knowledgeable and adds drama to the show. In real life, hunting ghosts in the dark sucks, and non of the serious paranormal investigators I know turn the lights off if they have a choice.

Some people claim the most active time for spirit activity is between 12.00am and 4.00am
Half the ghost stories I have heard from relatives and believe happened at night and the other half during the day - so it probably makes no difference. |

People are people - they basically have a brain in their heads that may or may not make errors of perception - doesn't matter what time of day or night it is.
