So a few months ago in psychology we began to discuss other dimensions and how this could possible explain the existence of ghosts. I have also read some interesting books about other dimensions/parallel worlds. Would be interested to know what people think about the idea of parallel worlds and other dimensions |

Funny you brought this subject up.
This was brought up at dinner the other night.
A friend of ours feels that 'shadow people' are
actually from another dimension as ghosts/spirits are
as well.
Great question.
Looking forward to others response.
Now if this is where 'they' hang out, is there an entry way
that they slip through to this dimension?

if thats the case then who's to say if someone finds that entry then they could hang out in their dimension |

the theory I have read about is that say for instance we lived in 2 dimension as opposed to 3 and something from a 3rd dimension was to pass through into a 2 dimension world it would very much look like a blurred figure as associated with ghosts. My opinion of entry ways is that these could possibly be explained via wormholes, small rips in the universe (sorry if that sounds like a doctor who episode) that may lead to other universes and dimensions. |

Some people who claim ouji boards are authentic say they open the doors, or provide entry from other dimensions. But IDK :) |

I find ouji boards interesting as they spark belief in those that claim to be non-believers. I recently went to watch a paranormal invetsigation and when I told friends and family about it they said it was nonsense however when I mentioned there would be a ouji board session they immediately tell me to be careful, but why if its nonsense? sorry if im rambling here. |

Exactly! you could put your name down to volunteer in the show, so I put my name down, then afterwards read that if your were chosen it could mean taking part in a ouji board session so I soon regretted putting my name down...luckily I wasnt chosen, phew! |

Is there a hypothesis on what a wormhole or
small rips in the universe would 'look' or 'feel' like?

Hi Rose,
Good question
There are many hypotheses that are presented to explain ghosts/spirits and (the latest paranormal 'in thing') shadow people. They all rely on speculation and at best pseudoscience with no real evidence to support them.
The 'other dimensions' hypothesis is just one of them and while it seems to have some support on a scientific level - the science is quantum physics and this is in itself purely hypothetical.
The one dimension that ghosts etc are coming from is the dimension we currently operate in IMO - more specifically they're probably coming from the confines of our brains , being constructs of our own flawed cognitive processes.

Theoretically a wormhole would be a small hole with a big gravtitational pull. It isn't known if they exist in our galaxy or even our universe however they do exist and work on a smiliar basis to black holes. However whether they are the key to entry to other dimensions is just a theory.
D.B Sweeney, You have a good point, are ghosts just projection that our subconcious creates to help us cope with trauma and stress, providing us an escape from the real world. There are many interesting theories in quantum physics, another interesting one I have read about is the holographic universe which works on the idea that we are projecting this 3 dimensional world from our minds.
I am a believer however when it comes to explaining why I do tend to argue with myself as I am also largely interested physics which at times undermines my own belief lol. |

There's nothing wrong with being a believer if you're happy to ignore any evidence that clashes with your beliefs. Christians, Jews and Muslims have been doing this for hundreds of years
Ghosts and the afterlife are a diluted religion in a sense. They represent the need to believe that death is not the end. Religion offers that but asks for worship and conformity in return for life beyond physical death. IMO the first step towards understanding ghosts/spirits is in understanding the true nature of death from both a biological and a psychological perspective.

Thats exactly how I argue with myself lol. I believe in something but im not sure what if that makes sense, I do believe there is something more but what that may be I dont have a clue . I'm not religious and very much side with evolution.
Being a psychology student I definately agree with your point there, especially if you take into account the psychodynamic perspective.
You could say my beliefs systems clash haha |
