It was the Philosopher A C Grayling who posed the question “What would you really do if a Monty Python sized hand with extended forefinger pointing at your head appeared from the clouds accompanied by a loud deep voice asking ‘now, do you believe in me ?’”
Would you (a) believe the evidence that there was a ‘god’ (b) question your perception of the event (c) question your sanity?.

So essentially you'd believe there was a god but question your perception of him while doubting your sanity?

I misread (a) I thought it said consider that this was God - but yes that, and b and c and then d - find out if anyone else seen it.
But there was no need to say I need a shrink (it's easy to say things like that behind a computer screen )
A coward is much more exposed to quarrels than a man of spirit.

That's very good of you - do you answer all light hearted comments with your fists?. I bet you're great company on a night out.

thats the problem with forums, you can't really tell how something typed was ment to be perseived
i could type something that was ment in jest and another could take it as offensive |

Ah, the misinterpretation of text!
If you state your intentions first and are confident that the person(s) reading are following and are on the same train of thought, then very rarely anything is mis-interpretated, but, in the majority of cases, offensiveness is common when a persons beliefs are questioned to a point when the "believer" feels backed into a corner as they can no longer defend there "belief" or provide suitable answers to questions.

Not sure what I would do DB.
Id ask the almighty fore finger for proof that he/she/it is the celestial being known and percieved as "god"
But youd also have to question your own state of mind and wether you actually witnessed the appearance of "god" or at least a digit. |

well this depends.. on the topic of ghosts the exzact thing you said would prolly mean your crazy lol.. but in general terms..
Yes i think seeing is beleiving... Yes it may have a answer to it in 99.9% of the time.
its your word against everyones elses, if you see a ghost or spirit its self evidence.. to you and you alone. now to prove this to pubic would be impossible nealy. |
