DB- "Chessboard - that's black & white "
Actually, DB, not all Chessboards are. I have one that has brown and ochre Squares.
"I agree, being too sceptical is almost as bad as being too believing."
That brings to mind Alex's jokes about the 'Mediums'. Are there many happy ones?? |

LOL, the happy Mediums are the ones that are making a good living off the grief of those that have lost loved ones.
Doris Stokes was a happy Medium IMO because she certainly scammed a hell of a lot of people.

D B Sweeney, as far as mediums go I don't think you are in the position to say they are all scammers, because you have never visited one - one to one. |

Cactus, as far as the planet Jupiter goes I don't think you are in a position to say it doesn't exist because you've never visited it.
OR...
As far as Spoon Benders go etc etc
OR...
As far as The Loch Ness Monster goes etc etc
OR...
As far as Bigfoot goes etc etc...
Do you get where your argument fails?.

I only meant as far as mediums go you aren't qualified to come to such a ''conclusive conclusion'' that they are all scam artists. But no worries; it's your opinion/belief - I'll save mine until after I've researched more and visited a few. |

Go visit some Mediums then but be very careful in terms of who they are, what they know about you and your friends and family. Remove all Jewellery and please read up a bit on body language and non verbal communication before you go see anyone claiming to contact your dead family and friends.

D B Sweeney, exactly, I intend to do everything you said and more maybe - fake name maybe, maybe something that I am not like wear rangers jersey for example - I'm not sure?? I guess if the medium is genuine it won't matter what I wear, say etc.. right? |

But unlike you, I have additional concerns about visiting mediums, which on top of researching 'medium scam methods etc and how to prevent them applying them' I believe in ghosts/spirits but I am worried about an evil entity pretending to be a dead friend/relative and want to read more into that side too. |

Jaysus Cactus! you're leaving yourself wide open there. I give up.
Have you heard of Confirmation Bias?. If you believe - then you'll believe.

No. I believe spirits exist - that doesn't mean I believe mediums can communicate with them.
And I won't be going in hoping to come out a believer - I will be going in scrutinising everything like a sceptic; like I said it will take something sensational for me to believe. |

No. I believe spirits exist
That's your first and biggest mistake Cactus - you're going to see someone who claims to be able to contact the dead and you already believe that the dead can be contacted - big fail mate.

I disagree, so long as I go about it the right way. I believe there is every chance I will come out saying either 'what a load of b*llocks' or 'that was interesting but not conclusive enough'. |

The right way is to go with an open but sceptical mind Cactus - it's as simple as that. But that won't happen because you 'already believe'.
