|
|
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I felt I wanted to ask what you thought of something that happened to me last night.
I was just about to go to bed and was checking the front door was locked. All of a sudden this high pitched screech appeared to be coming from the room next to me and lasted about 10 seconds. I also felt a strange adrenaline rush.
The trouble I am having is, i don't know how such a noise could occur. All electric equipment was off and there was no heating on. It is also interesting to note that I;m alone in the house as my parents are away.
Now, i wish i could find an explanation but i've looked today and cannot work out how it occurred. It has left me a bit scared and i'm not looking forward to tonight.
Am i being over the top? I do believe in ghosts but id rather not be scared. Thanks in advance :) Martin |

Hi Martin and welcome; Im Martin too
A banshee is the first thing that comes to my mind, but I dont know a lot about them, or even if they are real lol
If it was something supernatural it seems it wanted to be heard; it could be trying to get your attention or warn you of something
But before I would think about any of that; are you sure it didn't come from outside the house like car tyres or something? |

Thanks :) I guess there is the possibility it was my neighbor however it had gone midnight and she works early so she was probably in bed. i'm holding hope that it was something outside or just a power surge or something but it just felt so random and unexpected. It was also windy outside.
I just searched about a Banshee, sounds a bit concerning however i would describe the sound as more of a screech than a scream.
Thanks for your help :) |

Hi Miles,
Don't get too frightened by this noise and please don't immediately assume it was anything supernatural. In all likelihood it has a perfectly rational explanation and may not even have come from the room you say it did. Noise has a way of carrying at night that can be unnerving. It could have been anything from animals such as foxes to car tyres, neighbours, electrical outage (an appliance doesn't have to be on to sometimes emit a noise) or any one of a number of other sources that have not been considered.
Don't lose any sleep over this.

I agree with what DB said; also sometimes our imaginations can get carried away and we put 2+2 together and come up with 10.
Have you ever had any other experiences? |

Thanks guys, I'll try and forget about it but if it happens again I'll let you know. I think my mind has jumped to conclusions :) |

Take care Miles, you're most likely right in that you've jumped to the wrong conclusion.
See you around.

Hi Martin x
Please don't worry too much. There are generally loads of logical reasons that at the time you do not think of. My mind usually works overtime if I hear something unusual when I am on my own and I end up scaring myself.

Welcome to the forum Martin!
I too would be thinking of all sorts of things if I had
heard that noise!
Amazing how are minds work when we hear and/or see something
unusual.
I'm sure as the others have mentioned you will find a
rational explanation to it. |

Cactus, I can't picture you as a Martin.
Not sure what name I had you as but it was not a Martin. |
