Welcome to the forums dstrattenfan. That is a good question. One always takes risk's of someone stealing credit. Someone on here should have an idea. |

As an artist I have dealt with image theft before and this question was a hard one for me to answer. How could I elevate myself as an artist if I could not show others my works? I opted for a copyright notice, my name, and year. I also decided to water mark my images. I overlay-ed a layer onto the original and drove the transparency down to around 30 percent just barley visible and hard to clone or paint out for most thieves.
There are several things you should know about copyrighting photos. #1 is this, no matter what you do legally there are no true ways to stop image theft. If you are afraid someone will "steal" your image and or take credit for it then never post it or store it in transferable digital format. You should also note that different countries handle image theft differently so if you are that concerned by all means look deeper into international digital copyright laws.
Personally I would just slap a water mark, my name and the year on it and make it public, it's not like you will be patrolling the Internet for your image 24/7 and that's what it would take to insure zero improper use. If you do detect improper usage remember it is up to you to issue cease and desists and other legal actions to stop it.
Best of luck either way and welcome! |
