Last night (2am actually) whilst in bed my room was suddenly lit up by a bright light from outside. I couldn't move or speak it freaked me out so much. About 10 seconds later the landing was lit up in much the same way.
I live in a 2 story house, my bedrooms upstairs at the back (ie not near the road so couldnt be car headlights) and I have thick navy blue velvet curtains that generally dont let any light in my room. However I do have a lot of contact with ghosts empathically and have seen quite a few but only glancing views.
I am really weirded out by this and appreciate your thoughts. |

Someone making their rounds it sounds like.. You could always make a statement when things like this happen by asking them to leave you alone or the like. |

Usually when spirits want to contact me they share their feelings and sometimes a vision but never lights before. |

Yes and no. There was no more lights but my room became very cold and my dog woke up and left my room quickly which isn't normal because his beds in my room and he always sleeps there. He was quite scared actually and wouldn't come back in for about 15/20 minutes.
Also last night (weds) I'm sure someone called my name - then again I was very tired so i could have dreamt that. |

Sounds as if something is going on there Twirly.
If it happens again tonight perhaps you can ask it a few questions.
Keep us posted. |

Well nothing happend weds night/thursday morning but about 12.30am this morning I was woken up because my room got really cold again and there was a moaning - checked the dog but he only snores - the moaning was quite soft, more a whimpering really. Kinda freaky. I'm going to ask my neighbour tonight if he knows any history of my house and village in general - hes about 80 and lived here his entire life, he knows all the gossip so maybe he can shed some light on the mystery. |

twirly, my parents live in Norfolk, and I visit quite a bit. From what i've seen of the area, could this bright light be a new fangled thing called an electric street lamp?
Seriously though, all light is is electromagnetic radiation, the same as radar, infra red, UV, radio, microwaves etc. Basically light is energy thats visible to us, or rather our brains interpretation of energy. If nobody else saw it, it could be that someone was trying to communicate/manifest etc, and got their energies a bit OTT. If one believes that telepathy and spiritual communications are a form of energy, could this just be a shout? I've often thought that "blinding lights", even that seen by Saul of Tarsus, are just a sudden surge of spiritual energy that our brain can only translate as a flash of light.
Did anybody else see anything, were there any sounds?
If you want to look up the history of the area, try checking out http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ it has old maps for most the country, and is invaluable for finding what was there before your house. |

LOL Actually our whole lane only has one street lamp!
OK guys this is pretty cool. I went to see my neighbour on Saturday night and he told me some really cool stuff about where I live. I had never heard these stories before but after hearing them a lot of weird things that have happened now make sense. He told me loads of stories that he knew of personally or from friends and other stories passed down the family (his family has been in Southery for 8 generations) but these were my favourites.
Firstly, my house was empty for 8/9 years before my family moved in, the previous tenant committed suicide in the upstairs bathroom. Gruesome story but pretty damn cool if maybe she’s the bright light? Apparently it happened after her daughter had died aged only 7yrs old and soon after that her husband left her – her daughter is another spirit possibility.
Our lane is apparently haunted too. We live opposite the old ruined church and grave yard – SPOOKY – anyway when the church was being built in the late 1600’s most of the work was done by Irish navvy’s (I think that’s what they were called) Anyway there was a story that whilst working on the altar end roof, the wooden supports gave way and 2 men fell from the roof. One man died straight away and the other fell on a dog killing the poor thing, that man later died from his injuries. Well over the last 100 years people have heard dogs around the church barking and whimpering and also have seen men standing on top of the church. This church stopped being used in 1859 when the new bigger one was built and soon after the roof fell in at the altar end. This story makes sense because I have often heard other dogs when out walking my own and my dog has barked, growled and sniffed at things that I don’t see.
Also where I live was an island within the marshes 300+years ago and you had to know the safe routes to walk between villages otherwise you could be sucked into the bog and never seen again – my neighbour told me he has seen ‘people’ walking that suddenly disappeared and once a woman that fell about 100yrd from him and when he went to help her she had vanished into thin air.
The last story he didn’t finish telling me properly but I’m going back round to ask him some more. The apparition of a man dressed in early 19th century clothing has been seen standing at the cross roads between Southery, Hilgay and Ten Mile Bank. This man was a highwayman who after being caught was hung and buried at the crossroads so that his spirit would not be able to find his way again.
I never knew these things about where I live, its absolutely amazing, I’ve spent loads of time hunting ghosts in other places but never where I live – next week I’m (we’re) going over to the grave yard to do some ghost catching! |

This does not seem "spirit" related at all.
Have you have past experiences with bright lights at night?
A fear of something unexplained in the house (intruder)?
Spontaneous out of body experiences? |

Never had lights before usually just feelings, subconsious visions and the odd sighting of a ghost.
Yes there have been 'intruders' before in the house but not upstairs they are usually down stairs and are calling out to me - I have had occasions like when the spirit of my grandfather called me down stairs to the living room to say goodbye. I've never just had a random intruder they always seem to come for a reason.
And I've never had an out of body experience - I'm not personally keen to try it either - I have always been worried that if you leave your body even for a split second then it could be vunerable for possension by someone or something else.
We are going to hold a vidual at my house at the weekend to see if the lights make a return or if there is anyone in the house who wants to be heard. |

Not an option IMO, you don't really leave the body as much as your consciousness splits and exits at a different level. Besides an SOBE and an OBE are different , one is willed, the other is spontaneous and just happens without the person willing it. Sounds interesting but the light you saw I'm not sure about what to call that. Could even have been a bolide, nothing ruled in or out. |
