I remember seeing this on tv a few years ago - there were unidentified flying objects spotted over Bangor - not far from where I live. They claimed that they were balloons but they dont look like it to me.

They look like chinese lanterns to me. I read the reports of this at the time because it was raised on the forum I'm an admin on and one of our members lived quite close by. Everything I read on the sighting from a number of sources seemed to concur with chinese lanterns. In the link posted you can clearly see the flicker of the tea lights inside.

Well they look like lanterns to me too, very pretty but completely different to an OBL.
Thats probobly why the mainstream chose to report on it. |

yeah it was really the triangle shape and the fact they werent really moving - any lantern ive ever seen was moving much faster than this |

they seemed to have the structure of a typical chinease desing.
But then again even hd vids don't do any justice to actually witness the event. |

A lanterns speed will be governed by the speed of the prevailing wind.
No wind = lantern rises straight up in the air
Slight breeze = lantern will rise and move away slowly
Fair breeze = lantern will rise and move away fairly rapidly.
It's very likely that lanterns will move in formation and keep that formation, leading to reports of triangular UFOs etc.
Over the last 10 years many UFO reports have actually been lantern sightings - apart from those that move at mach 12
