Hi project reveal.
I love what your doing and the fact that you have some faith that there is something out there and though those EMF meters ect may not be actually desined for finding ghosts they are still usefull. With equipment we can use the kit to try to understand the phenomena more and have a betterway to attempt to find out what is happening.

A themometer would be good if you had a random cold spot so could be counted too. A giger counter might help decide weather haunted areas have higher radiation so that is a usefull fact that could not have been discovered without the meter.
Dont pay any attention to the doubters and keep at it.

Forget EMF meters they are of no more use than a damp piece of string..Use a spectrum analyser.

Why would haunted locations have higher levels of radiation - are ghosts radioactive?.

Many years ago I use to buy a lot of electronic bits & pieces for parts. Everything from electronic tape readers for credit cards to giger counters & security camera systems were available to break down for parts by the kilo. Having brought a box of bits that included a giger counter. I discovered it had been modified, presumably for use in exercises. So that instead of finding radiation it had a variable resistor & a sound generator inside so it could look as it it had found radiation.
This device plus some cheap painters white overalls, some dust protection masks & goggles & a stick to draw lines & write danger in the sand certainly sent beach users looking for spirits.
Anyone who asked us anything were referred to the senior officer following us up the beach in a few minutes, as we were sorry but we were allowed to say nothing.. Laughing Sadly someone misunderstood our humour & we were advised to stop.

The case in point is simple.
Does anyone know where the person can find a paranormal equipment shop in the UK?
The main point is "paranormal shop" Which would basically mean a shop which sells equipment which might possibly document actions and reactions caused by a theoretical paranormal interaction. I think I'm write there? Or could it mean spirit boards? A spirit board has no other general use other than to theoretically comunicate with spirit energies. It has no other use. There for I think we could call it a paranormal piece of equipment. But then lets look at a Tr-field meter shall we? It theoretically shows us Electrical, electromagnetic and microwave frequencies which are eminating around us within an environment. But this is also theory and can not be entirly proven. All science is theory you see , as without utter factual proof of any one thing there can be no relationship made to anything else, its called cause and effect. So although people from the atomc and mono minded scientific or even none educated backgroud may argue that metaphysics is not truth, neither is physics. Which means that any piece of equipment used for physics can be used to varifie metaphysics as neither are provable concepts.
To move on though, Through utilisation of tech equipment I and many others do not attempt to document ghosts. No sorry if this spoils your fun. What we do is attempt to document the reactions produced upon the atomic world through external reactions upon the physical world. In other words we know that the only way to actualy see or personaly encounter the ghost we would have to be dead (theoretically), but we attempt to document the actions subjected upon the theoretic atomic world which has already been theoretically challenged. So in order to do this we use equipment which is desighned to document that environment. So maybe what the person should have said was " does anyone know where I can find a shop which sells atomic based physics and electronic tech equipment in the UK, with which I can observe interactions upon the physical world theoretically applied by metaphysical forces, variables and pollutions as a means to pushing the boundries of the physical scientific envolope? To this I would say yes.
Go here. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_13?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=ghost+hunting+equipment&sprefix=ghost+hunting
or for the best books on the subject go here;
http://www.hauntasticevents.co.uk/shop.html
But I know Project reveal sell some great gear too and the link has been popped on here earlier.
If you have any more problems with the concepts of paranormal investigation and theory please feel free to interject. P.S we are called investigators because we investigate. To not enquire and to dis an enquiry is none productive. If you do not wish to act, don't react as a reaction requires forsight and I have seen none of this up to press. Hope this helps
Iain.

I noticed here that some of you guys have started talking about gear.
Rather than me rattling on for ages on here I would find it easier to link you to the sight of a great friend of mine. Mr David M Rowntree,
I am now in his inner circle and he has just checked out the intro to my new book. On Davids sight you can look into the usage , theories and science of many of the pieces of equipment you have mentioned and a whole lot more. Plus see some lectures and download investigation docs and pdf's of lots of stuff.
Enjoy. David is a great pro actice guy and has many scientific people involved within his team. http://www.spinvestigations.org/

Iain.

Not exactly true Iain. An EMF meter is a very real tool, there is no question of it being a theoretical anything.
But when you look beyond the mist of facts produced by those with no comprehension of what they are talking about. It's use in a serious investigation is very clearly of no help to anyone unless they are looking to find Electromagnetic Fields at set resonances, from electrical items.
And the detectors used to detect leakages in Microwave ovens are different to your EMF meters, as the leakage detectors are designed to work at 2.4 GHz & the EMF meters you use are not...Thus proving the problems involved by the use of equipment that is not understood.
Both are EMF fields yes, but guess what? Sun light is a EMF field as well & does your detector work with that?
Personally I would not put a gas meter onto an electrical circuit before I worked on it to make sure it was safe, any more than I would use a tyre gauge to check the battery on my car. I would check both the battery & the mains circuit using a multi meter at the correct setting to avoid damaging the meter & get a correct reading.
The problem with so called Ghost hunting items is not that there is no such items. As there clearly are items that can assist.
The problem is in using something you do not understand to measures something you do not understand..You have no idea what you are measuring or what it's relevance to anything is...Yes thats good investigating..I'll take that seriously every time.

With out a doubt, measuring EMF is probably the most revealing aspect of
paranormal research. With our recent discovery of the relationship between EMF
and EVP, accurately measuring all aspects of EMF across the frequency
spectrum is paramount. Therefore, we have assembled an assortment of devices
to monitor and measure this force, one of the four forces of the universe, and the
list of devices is likely to grow larger as we move forward. The above diagram
represents typical EMF and Magnetic field measuring devices that are hand held.
The TriField, FW Bell, and KII are typically found in the field. The KII however, is
useless as a measuring device as it is unshielded and uncalibrated. The K-II is
used as a heads up display only, since its lack of shielding and broadband
response makes it light up with any present EMF. The flashing LEDs focus us on
observing the other instruments to see if there are any significant deviations.
The MC 95 sensor operates from 25 Hz to 3000 Hz, which pretty well covers the
human voice spectrum and below. By mating this with an oscilloscope, we can
not only observe the waveform, we can determine its exact frequency, or
frequencies it is composed of.
Electromagnetic fields are composite fields made up of electric fields and
magnetic fields. Electric fields are created by differences in voltage: the higher
the voltage, the stronger will be the resultant field. Magnetic fields are created
when electric current flows: the greater the current, the stronger the magnetic
field. An electric field will exist even when there is no current flowing. If current
does flow, the strength of the magnetic field will vary with power consumption but
the electric field strength will be constant. The electromagnetic field is a physical
field produced by electrically charged objects. It affects the behavior of charged
objects in the vicinity of the field. So, simply stated, electric fields result from the
strength of the charge while magnetic fields result from the motion of the charge,
or the current. Electric fields are easily shielded: they may be weakened,
distorted or blocked by conducting objects such as earth, trees, and buildings,
but magnetic fields are not as readily blocked. Electric charges with opposite
signs (positive and negative) attract each other, while charges with the same sign
repel each other. The forces of attraction and repulsion create electric fields
whose strength is related to “voltage” (electrical pressure). These forces of
attraction or repulsion are carried through space from charge to charge by the
electric field. The electric field is measured in volts per
meter (V/m) or in kilovolts per meter (kV/m). A group of charges moving in the
same direction is called an “electric current.” When charges move they create
additional forces known as a “magnetic field.” The strength of a magnetic field is
measured in “gauss” (G) or “tesla” (T), while the electric current is measured in
“amperes” (amps). The strength of both electric and magnetic fields decrease as
one moves away from the source of these fields.
The electromagnetic field extends indefinitely throughout space and describes
the electromagnetic interaction. It is one of the four fundamental forces of nature
(the others are gravitation, the weak interaction, and the strong interaction).
The field can be viewed as the combination of an electric field and a magnetic
field. The electric field is produced by stationary charges, and the magnetic field
by moving charges (currents); these two are often described as the sources of
the field. The way in which charges and currents interact with the
electromagnetic field is described by Maxwell's equations and the Lorentz Force
Law.
From a classical point of view, the electromagnetic field can be regarded as a
smooth, continuous field, propagated in a wavelike manner, whereas from a
quantum mechanical point of view, the field can be viewed as being composed of
photons.
One of the main characteristics which define an electromagnetic field (EMF) is its
frequency or its corresponding wavelength. Fields of different frequencies
interact with the body in different ways. One can imagine electromagnetic waves
as series of very regular waves that travel at an enormous speed, the speed of
light. The frequency simply describes the number of oscillations or cycles per
second, while the term wavelength describes the distance between one wave
and the next. Hence wavelength and frequency are inseparably intertwined: the
higher the frequency the shorter the wavelength.
Wavelength and frequency determine another important characteristic of
electromagnetic fields: Electromagnetic waves are carried by particles called
quanta. Quanta of higher frequency (shorter wavelength) waves carry more
energy than lower frequency (longer wavelength) fields. Some electromagnetic
waves carry so much energy per quantum that they have the ability to break
bonds between molecules. In the electromagnetic spectrum, gamma rays given
off by radioactive materials, cosmic rays and X-rays carry this property and are
called 'ionizing radiation'. Fields whose quanta are insufficient to break molecular
bonds are called 'non-ionizing radiation'. Man-made sources of electromagnetic
fields that form a major part of industrialized life - electricity, microwaves and
radiofrequency fields – are found at the relatively long wavelength and low
frequency end of the electromagnetic spectrum and their quanta are unable to
break chemical bonds.
Electric fields exist whenever a positive or negative electrical charge is present.
They exert forces on other charges within the field. The strength of the electric
field is measured in volts per meter (V/m). Any electrical wire that is charged will
produce an associated electric field. This field exists even when there is no
current flowing. The higher the voltage, the stronger the electric field at a given
distance from the wire.
As previously noted, electric fields are strongest close to a charge or charged
conductor, and their strength rapidly diminishes with distance from it. Conductors
such as metal shield them very effectively. Other materials, such as building
materials and trees, provide some shielding capability. Therefore, the electric
fields from power lines outside the house are reduced by walls, buildings, and
trees. When power lines are buried in the ground, the electric fields at the surface
are hardly detectable.
Magnetic fields arise from the motion of electric charges. The strength of the
magnetic field is measured in amperes per meter (A/m); more commonly in
electromagnetic field research, scientists specify a related quantity, the flux
density (in microtesla, μT) instead. In contrast to electric fields, a magnetic field is
only produced once a device is switched on and current flows. Remember, the
higher the current, the greater the strength of the magnetic field.
Like electric fields, magnetic fields are strongest close to their origin and rapidly
decrease at greater distances from the source. Magnetic fields are not blocked
by common materials such as the walls of buildings.
What are the main sources of low, intermediate and high frequency fields?
The time-varying electromagnetic fields produced by electrical appliances are an
example of extremely low frequency (ELF) fields. ELF fields generally have
frequencies up to 300 Hz. Other technologies produce intermediate frequency
(IF) fields with frequencies from 300 Hz to 10 MHz and radiofrequency (RF) fields
with frequencies of 10 MHz to 300 GHz. The effects of electromagnetic fields on
the human body depend not only on their field level but on their frequency and
energy. Our electricity power supply and all appliances using electricity are the
main sources of ELF fields; computer screens, anti-theft devices and security
systems are the main sources of IF fields; and radio, television, radar and cellular
telephone antennas, and microwave ovens are the main sources of RF fields.
These fields induce currents within the human body, which if sufficient can
produce a range of effects such as heating and electrical shock, depending on
their amplitude and frequency range. (However, to produce such effects, the
fields outside the body would have to be very strong, far stronger than present in
normal environments.)
Electromagnetic fields at high frequencies
Mobile telephones, television and radio transmitters and radar produce RF fields.
These fields are used to transmit information over long distances and form the
basis of telecommunications as well as radio and television broadcasting all over
the world. Microwaves are RF fields at high frequencies in the GHz range. In
microwaves ovens, we use them to quickly heat food.
At radio frequencies, electric and magnetic fields are closely interrelated and we
typically measure their levels as power densities in watts per square meter
(W/m2). We will go into RF energy in another paper.
Electric and magnetic fields are invisible fields of force created by electric voltage
(electric fields) and by electric current (magnetic fields). Wherever there is a flow
of electricity, both electric and magnetic fields are present. Electric fields exist
when appliances are plugged in. Magnetic fields exist when appliances are
turned on
EMFs are higher the closer they are measured to their source. In fact, EMF
levels are greater next to an appliance and almost disappear at distances of 3-5
feet. This is one reason why home appliances may produce higher levels of
EMFs in a house as opposed to a power line that may be nearby.
Measuring magnetic field strength
The strength or intensity of magnetic fields is commonly measured in a unit
called a Gauss or Tesla by magnetic field meters called “gauss meters.” A
milligauss (mG) is a thousandth of a gauss, and a microtesla (uT) is a millionth of
a tesla (one milligauss is the same as 0.1 microtesla).
The magnetic field strength in the middle of a typical living room measures about
0.7 milligauss or 0.07 microtesla. As noted above, the strength of the magnetic
field is only one component of the mixture that characterizes the field in a
particular area. Measuring only magnetic field strength may not capture all the
relevant information any more than the decibel volume of the music you are
playing captures the music’s full impact. The main health studies to date have
only measured magnetic field strength directly or indirectly and assessed its
association with disease.
Some scientists wonder if the weak association between measured magnetic
fields and cancer in these studies might appear stronger if we knew which aspect
of the EMF mixture to measure. Other scientists wonder if any such aspect
exists.
Common as dirt - 60 Hz EMF
There are “power frequency” electric and magnetic fields almost everywhere we
go because 60 Hz electric power is so widely used. Exposure to magnetic fields
comes from many sources, like high voltage “transmission” lines (usually on
metal towers) carrying electricity from generating plants to communities and
“distribution” lines (usually on wooden poles) bringing electricity to our homes,
schools, and work places. Other sources of exposure are internal wiring in
buildings, currents in grounding paths (where low voltage electricity returns to the
system in plumbing pipes), and electric appliances such as TV monitors, radios,
hair dryers and electric blankets. Sources with high voltage produce strong
electric fields, while sources with strong currents produce strong magnetic fields.
The strength of both electric and magnetic fields weakens with increasing
distance from the source (table 1). Magnetic field strength falls off more rapidly
with distance from “point” sources such as appliances than from “line” sources
(power lines). The magnetic field is down to “background” level (supposed to be
no greater than that found in nature)
3-4 feet from an appliance, while it reaches background level around 60-200 feet
from a distribution line and 300-1000 feet from a transmission line. Fields and
currents that occur at the same place can interact to strengthen or weaken the
total effect. Hence, the strength of the fields depends not only on the distance of
the source but also the distance and location of other nearby sources.
Identifying sources of elevated magnetic fields
Sometimes fairly simple measurements can identify the external or internal
sources creating elevated magnetic fields. For example, turning off the main
power switch of the house can rule out sources from use of power indoors.
Magnetic field measurements made at different distances from power lines can
help pinpoint them as sources of elevated residential magnetic fields. Often,
however, it takes some detective work to find the major sources of elevated
magnetic fields in or near a home. Currents in grounding paths (where low
voltage electricity returns to the system in plumbing pipes) and some common
wiring errors can lead to situations in which source identification is difficult and
requires a trained technician. It is almost always possible to find and correct the
sources of elevated magnetic fields when they are due to faulty electrical wiring,
grounding problems, or appliances such as lighting fixtures.
As stated, measuring EMF and doing it correctly is most likely the single most
important measurement when investigating the paranormal. Rooms should be
worked in a grid pattern with hand held devices to identify natural sources of
EMF. Any spikes occurring during the course of the investigation should be
checked immediately for a source.

Ok now thats out of the way and the correct Emf mapping has been carried out and an area isolated for investigation a tri-fiels meter can be located in a low Emf zone and left for 20 minutes for it to settle in. It must also be set facing magnetic north so as to remove polution from natural sources. Any variations at this point or spikes must be accounted for and documented and used in accordance with other documented readings and compiled as an over view for later analysis.
A Tri-field meter should never be used alone as it can not point out activity through fluctuations alone, we look for ion fluctuations, air preasure, light and sound, as well as temprature and humdity. Should an environment fluctuate for no apparant reason and have no relevance to a given situation, this could be seen to be a paranormal situation. Paranormal meaning something other than normal. Once the situation has been documented we can go on to investigating that environment and considering external sources for a viable explanation. Thats why its called investigation. But I personaly see The Emf meter to be a very important part of the equipment used by a researcher. A strong link as been found with electromagnetic energy and E.V.P, In that the coil of the dynamic microphone as experienced and documented EMF sound waves at the time of EMF spikes and evp recordings of voices not available to the location. The frequency of the emf not been of the range to discribe radio pollution or other externally produced broadcast frequencies. In other words spikes at time of Evp and not from anywhere else.

P.s I said theoretical in conjunction with the Tri-field as nothing is fact factual and known science as I have stated before itself theory. This would make any piece of equipment used in accordance with that science also theoretical.

This suggests that it is American in origin & anyone believing this as a universal truth does not know even the basics of electrical principals.

An IF (Intermediate Frequency,) is a frequency that is produced within a radio where by the Carrier frequency is mixed with the local oscillator frequency to produce an "intermediate Frequency" this is then multiplied to produce the Fundamental frequency. This is done for a number of reasons the main one being filtration, it produces a good clean transmitted signal & a sensitive receiver.

This again proves the poor science involved as RF (Radio Frequency) is not limited to this spectrum. Ever heard of Long Wave radio or medium wave radio?? Ong Wave is 148 to 284khz & MW is from 550 to 1600 khz.
Mr David M Rowntree of S.P.I.R.I.T clearly dooes not know even the basics of what he writes & if he can get the foundations of his theory correct then the rest is clearly unreliable & built upon inveteracies & plain untruths.
This again proves why this field is treated as such a joke. How can anyone expect to be treated as a serious researcher when fools like Mr David M Rowntree of S.P.I.R.I.T can write such poorly educated material & be quoted as a source of the founding science of that research?
To be perfectly honest Iain. If this is what you believe to be good science, then you are little better than those who wrote it. A good researcher questions & does not blindly believe.

I have just spotted another blatant & simple innacuracy..

First is the house using Multiple earths? Second is someone outside of the house using power line transmission for the internet or a baby monitor etc???

Wrong. The laws of physics remain the same. A weaker signal has a smaller foot print, or to word it differently a weaker signal can not be heard over as large an area as a strong signal, but the maths involved remains the same.

Ever heard the terms AC & DC to describe electricity? The C stands for Currents & all wiring be it on a post feeding a hundred houses or in a house powering a hair drier...Remember that stupid comment about 60hz??? That is a reference to the current, but it's 50hz or 60hz as the most common current in the world, but not the only two in use.
Edited to add..To make it clear that all mains wiring carries current, be it a hair drier or 240 volts leaving a transformer. Oh & the UK uses 50hz.

Think about this one...When does a earth system carry current??? This is a plainly stupid comment, unless a fault exists the earth system has no current, just potential.
At best the quoted statement by David M Rowntree is a collection of originally accurate cut & pastes. But used without intelligence or understanding of the subject. Whilst the reality is that it is yet another piece of deliberately half accurate sudo-science that it is hoped will make gullible fools believe that a nobody fool is something that he clearly is not. It is simply yet another piece of utter rubbish that discredits everyone who wants to investigate this area.

A further couple of points. Iain.
one..Pointing a EMF meter north will do nothing, unless you are using a directional beam with a sufficient number of elements to stop side & back scatter & if you are, how many continents does it cover?
Two. Did you realise that what you are listening to in the low hertz spectrum was lightning strikes? These when heard audibly are called Howlers & Squealers & are the result of the estimated 100 strikes per second upon the earth.
The reason for these peaks & sounds is that the ionosphere is conductive & that conductivity is variable due to solar activity altering it's ionisation, there is then air, a resistor & then another conductive surface, the world. The world again can alter in conductivity slightly, altering it's value. This makes a capacitor with the earth circumference at the equator being the equivalent of a wavelength for 7.8hz. And thus a perfect demodulator for frequencies around that main (fundamental) frequency. But with alterations to capacitance in the top & bottom plate pulling the frequency slightly in one direction or another.
The science just does not hold up Iain. The more you look the worse it looks. Every time I think about what has been written I realise another mistake & thats without research, god alone knows what it looks like if you take time to look at it properly.

David Rowntree wrote a book called Paranorma Technology. It is world renoune. It is used by the British psychical resrearch foundation and many other scientifically based associations. I am a paranormal researcher, I gather information and analyes environments for situations which appear to be anomalous. I am good at what I do and a gain none-conclusive evidence. In order to o this I am forced to reach into the physical and meta-physical knowledge pool which is massive. I do this and research pro-actively as well as raise funding for my research 18 hours a day, I sleep very little. I rely upon the research of others as a means to assist my own research just as main line science community would. If I was to do my own entire research, log findings, apply those findings to investigation and meta analysis and earn enough to run research and live, I would have to excist 3 times within the same time space to fit it all in. Now you tell me Emf meters are no use for research, but 1000's of science based books tell me they are. I read for thousands of hours about the usage of such equipment. I do this with many other pieces of equipment, plus I research mediumship, folk law, research methods, I run my own research, two livestream radio phone ins, introductory investigation events and fun events, I write a paranormal magazine and run two web sites and now I have opened a brand new outdoor pursuits company. I am doing everything I possibly can to get this all right. Maybe you are right, maybe not? Thankyou for the input and I will look into it as I never like getting anything wrong. But I will take on board all views and I will use every piece of equipment in relation to a given situation. When I read David Rowntrees books and his papers I apply that knowledge to my own research, but when people (as yourself) imply that the information is wrong, I take it onboard and consider that information. Thankyou for the input and I will look closer into it. But if it is believed that an Emf meter has the ability to show electromagnetic fluctuaions at a time when the +ion count rises and the U.V intensity is raised and an evp of words which appear not to be produced in the environment are documentated, at a point when personal experiencial documentation is logged and a light anomaly is documented to a full sprectrum camera. I would consider all pieces of equipment within that equation to be relevant to the overall documentation. There for I would conclude that all those pieces of equipment have been effected by some form of activity, which would entale that they or theoretically paranormal documentation equipment. So I still hold that an Emf meter in what ever situation is a piece of paranormal equipment, as is a human being, a stick, a frog or a spoon. If an object can be used to assist in the documentation of anomalous activily it is therefore equipment. Your comments about the EMF meter have been noted. I shall pass these on to David if you like and I shall attempt to get you a direct reply? Thats the best I can do. I have to say though at this point that I have been using the Tri-field meter for a long time and have conducted some investigation experiments with it and have documented reactions which can not be put down simply to external polution, I have seen recurant replies to stimulous ie questions and actions. This is not conclusive, but gives me the reason I need to continue using Emf meters during investigations.
Thankyou for your input.

You are so advanced in your thinking, so open minded.
In fact I just can't be arsed to talk about such a wonderfull subject with you!
Is the world round Sharla Tan?
Actualy theres no proof there is one. Which means you are also no more than a theory De Bunk... sorry I meant dear.
Have a wonderfull life and when that ends, you can go to the end of the
"delete me cue".
Sorry everyone , but the low level argument base does get boring. Time to step it up a little to "did the cow jump over the moon". Have a nice day.
