Hey all, I wanted to share a bit of a strange thing that happened to me and my buddy Gregg had while exploring an old abandoned military installations in an undisclosed location just a little ways north of San Francisco Bay area. We go ghost hunting and urban exploring sometimes and try to get video and sound recordings to see what we get. A buddy told us about this old army bunker that was used for some pretty messed up experiments on institutionalized patients, but we didn't know really what to believe. The place was shut down a long time ago, but we found a way in and got some crazy footage.

Some of it's kind of messed up and grainy, but there's some definite evidence of something going on in it. It's definitely got me kinda freaked out. We got a lot of EVP on tape, plus some definite orbs on video.

Thanks Mike,
Very well done. I liked it but post Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity I think we need something different.

Yeah, I kind of have to admit it was all in fun, although we did shoot it in a real abandoned underground Civil War-era naval artillery bunker. Of course, it's on the west coast, near San Francisco, so it probably didn't see a whole lot of heavy combat per se. Anybody who died there would have been from boredom, black mold, tuberculosis or fighting.
We're sound effects guys by trade, so we do a lot of urban exploration into places like this, looking for unusual soundscapes and industrial percussion sounds for film, videogames and TV, so it's fun to whip up little parodies like these on our days off. Basically, just a pure parody of all of the reality TV ghost hunting shows where it's all shakey cam and "whoa, what was that, who touched me bro!".
I give a little more credit to shows like Cities of the Underworld and Off Limits, since the explore more of the history and substance of creepy places like this and actually do a better job at exploring some of the really frightening back-stories that go way beyond anecdotal stories about flickering lights. Although I have to admit that places like Alcatraz at night are even freakier in person than TV suggests... especially touring the morgue and basement, by flashlight. You definitely see and hear.. things. |
