I didn't know where to post this so I do apologise if it's in the wrong section.
I'm writing this about my son who's 12 years old. For about 6 months now he says he's been hearing voices in his head when he's alone in his bedroom. It's happened 3 times over this weekend and I think he's getting quite frightened by it which I guess is understandable especially for a kid. He describes it as hearing around 20 voices all talking at once but he can't make out exactly what they're saying. The only way it goes away if he starts doing something to distract himself or he'll usually come downstairs and tell me as he's scared. I don't know what to make of it, but my first thought was schizophrenia or some kind of mental illness. As he's only 12 though I thought he'd be too young to suffer from something like that and as far as I know he's not been under any kind of stress. I don't know whether or not I should take him to the doctor or just leave it for a while and see what happens. He's also told me he's had outer body expericences in the past where he's been looking down at himself from the ceiling while he's been asleep in bed. Now he doesn't know the first thing about outer body experiences being only 12 but I can only guess that's what it is from what he's described to me. Does anyone have any idea what it could mean plz, could it be spirits trying to contact him or something more sinister? Thanks. |

hi mdolla, welcome to the forums
im no expert but you could try and tell your son the next time it happens to say in a calm voice that they are scaring him and to go away and see what happens, but im sure some one in here will be able to help and give you some advice |

Greetings and welcome to the forums DM. Flossy is right. Just tell him in a way that will not scare him more. One suggestion would be to just ask those voices: "Hey, you guys are disturbing and scaring me, please leave" In most cases they do.
I am not one who believes in "out of body experiences." It could be possible but as long as your son is not physically or mentally injured just tell him not to be afraid and enjoy the ride. Not many people have that experience and he is special to have it. This may ease his fears.
Keep us informed. |

Take him to the Doctor. It could be paranormal, but it might not be. It sounds like this child is having a very hard and disturbing time. You need to get him some help, or he will be experiencing some major paranoia. It's not fair for a child to be experiencing something like that, he's far too young.
However, if the doctor cannot find an explanation for the voices, go to a reliable medium that has a good rep.
Good luck! I hope everything works out for you and your son. |

Normally when it is a mental disorder, the voices he is hearing would be talking directly to him, or telling him to do things. Because it seems as if these voices do not acknowledge him, than more than likely he is hearing spirits or an imprint of the spirits past. I would do some researching on your residence and see if your son recognizes any of the information. Tell your son to tell the spirits that they are not welcome and to return to heaven. Do this with him so that he will not be so frightened. |

First of all I really appreciate your courage of posting your grievances. This is the right place to do so. Now
coming back to the topic your son may be overstressed.
He may have some sort phychological disorder. I personally feel you need to talk to him softly. He needs
lot of relaxation and emotional support. Try to encourage him positively. Meditation and other yogic exercises will really help him. If still the problem remains unsolved try to contact a psychiatrist or a
phychological counsellor. Never fear for anything. Frankly speaking I never believe in ghosts.
