The only proof the we exist is the fact that we perceive. There are no other "FACTS". The atomical world is theoreticaly the end of a process which is incomprehensible to us, which is why we do not know factualy what we are.
Science works hard to comprehend the atomic world, but indeed can only attempt to understand the atomic world as that is all it has to work with. So we are stuck with a personal dilemma of "I think therefore I am". Ok so considering this, it appears the only true way to make any progress is to reverse the process and un think.
To pass back down the thought process appears to be impossible, but offers the only true gateway to the emination of consious thought and to the point of original emination. The point of interest here is that we appear to eminate outwardly. There is no return jouney, we can not look back. If we could, we would know what we are. This gives rise to the theory that we eminate as energy information passing from one point to another requiring a medium of passage (a package to carry information from A to B). If we can understand the meduim of carriage, we can begin to attempt to work out how to reverse the polarity and reverse the process. The problem there is that to reverse such a process would mean to pass back down a line of theoretical information flow which would apparantly lead to the concept we call death. Death being a word which discribes the position of concious thought before the atomic cross over. There are going to be problems as I am taking for granted that the line of concious thought is a streight one. It may well not be. There are liable to be a number of transitionary stages which I can not comprehend, a bit like the process of changing file formats within a computer. The files can be understood at both ends of the process, but between the two is a configuration stage which allows the transferance of information to be understood by the Phychic emination (thought) and the atomic resulting interactivity (atomic realism). Physics has progressed to understanding the theoretic building block's of the atomic world through mathematics in the form of quantum physics and string theory, and has excepted that there is something within the something ( dark matter/energy and dark matter flow). But is this just the theoretical realism of the atomic programme within which consious though eminates to? A final stage in the string of intent and interaction with other psychic energys? Whose to know. The one thing that is "fact" is that we exist. The fun part is working out how.
