Is there such a thing as a witch?

I hope there is such a thing as a witch...I've been one since 74. Very Happy

I feel it important to point our though that not all Witches are wiccan. I for one am not wiccan, but I am a Witch. There's a nifty little rhyme I use to educate folks that goes, "All Wiccans are Witches but not all Witches are Wiccan". Laughing

I'm a Hellenic Witch. A witch is basically anybody who uses energy manipulation to achieve results. Since my Pantheon is Hellenic (Greek) and not Celtic (which the Wiccans use) that makes me a Hellenic Witch. Smile

I know many Witches who don't do Ritual or use spells at all, and they're witches, too. There are many, many kinds of witches. Smile

A Pantheon is a group of Gods. Wiccans primarily follow the Celtic Pantheon (Cernunnos, Epona, etc.) Hellenics like myself follow the Greek Gods (Zeus, Apollo, Artemis, etc.) then there are Asatru, who follow the Norse Pantheon (Odin, Thor, etc.).

Yes, I do Ritual and cast spells and have for many years. Smile

I hope you don't think this is a silly question Xena. I always hear of Witches and never of Warlocks, are there Warlocks or is everyone considered a Witch?

Most witches are good, actually. Especially if they're Wiccan, as their main rule (The Rede) clearly states to harm none.

I'm an honourable person and an honourable witch, and so yes, I'm a good witch. I only work in a positive manner. :)

The word "warlock" is used primarily in fantasy novels and movies. Both male and female practitioners are called 'witches'. Of course, you'll get the odd individual who prefers to be called a warlock, and that's his business, but technically there's no such thing.

And no question is stupid. Very Happy
