As I've suggested in many other posts, eyewitness testimony and memory are unreliable. This is not a dig at GhostNurse. I've had UFO sightings myself that I initially thought were paranormal which were probably my own error of perception and recollection.

The link below outlines why and how:

I don't supposes those sightings were what I refer to as a 100 percenters!

What's a legitimate UFO researcher?.

A legitimate researcher is someone who genuinly cares about the scene, stays truthfull and does not deny the evidence, they do this for the people.
I could call myself a UFO Researcher since I've been researching UFO's for over 35 years.
No DB 35 years of denying won't do.

Surely all sightings of aerial phenomenon that can't be immediately identified are UFO's?. Of course there are many miss identifications but there are too many genuine cases globaly along evidence of other connected phenomina to just say its all balloons. Most people are not stupid and can tell if what they are seeing is normal or not. Intuition/common sence.

By 'deny the evidence' I take it you mean they don't properly examine all the more rational explanations and come to investigate cases with the belief already in place that we're being visited by space aliens?.

No DB 35 years of denying won't do.

For 25 of those 35 years I believed that UFO's were alien spacecraft - did that make me a legitimate researcher for those 25 years then?.

Of course there are many miss identifications but there are too many genuine cases globaly along evidence of other connected phenomina to just say its all balloons. Most people are not stupid and can tell if what they are seeing is normal or not. Intuition/common sence.

What constitutes a genuine case Agentscott?. I'd say one important part of a genuine case is testable physical evidence wouldn't you agree?.
By suggesting that the only explanation ever offered is 'balloons' means you're either being very flippant or you're blind to the myriad natural, man made phenomenon and psychological/physiological causes that result in UFO sightings.

A proper researcher will use scientific methodology to investigate cases, they will by default be sceptical from the outset and certainly not come to the table with a belief in space aliens already in place since this will potentially influence their investigation and bias their conclusions.

Ufo's may well not be alien, they could be secret technology of ours or possibly unmaned probes or some kind of natural phenomina from space like animals of somekind.
I personally beleive the ones I have seen are aliens in manned craft way in advance of our own and probobly most other types too but not all so I am open to rational debate as to what they could be. When we consider what it takes to move with purpose and do the things they do, that then shouts inteligence.

Denying all the evedence and global accounts is the unrational approach.

Thats what i would lean towards too, although I am not 100% sure about UFOs yet as i have never seen one - but weighing up a lot of evidence I am at least 80% sure they are real and ebe manned.

If you look at the size of the universe (some claim multiverse) - it is impossible for there not to be extraterrestrial life - like jodie foster said at the end of 'contact' if there is nothing out there then its an awful waste of space

and most likely there is intelligent life out there in all stages - some yet to control their own planet (less advanced thaan us) and others thousands and even millions of years more evolved than us.

Great points there Cactus,
The universe obviously is teaming with life, loads of UFO's to potentually investigate other planets.

I had the same thought about the universe being a bit of a waste of space, interestingly our own atoms are also a waste of space and are only sparcley filled with the electrons and all that that counts. I darent quote a figure but it may be as litlle as 0.001 % filled up. (or was there another 0?)
The point is its consistent with the universe in the sence that why such big gaps.

Keep looking up Cactus and you will get a sighting.

Today I spotted something odd in the daytime sky...
It was about half the size of a really high plane at about 10,000 feet up, it looked like a black orb that flew towards a cloud at speed but never came out the other side.
This was not a proper no doubt sighting but certenly was an intersting object.

Its funny when i read that i just remembered i once saw something - but have no idea what it was - it was about 2 years ago - i was working at the same place as my da, i finished at 5.30 and he finished at 6 - so i had to wait for half an hour - i was sitting in the car and i saw something in the distance - it was sunset around september/october - straight in front of me about 1 - 2 miles away something went straight upwards at a constant rate (not overly fast but fast enough) into the sky - this wasnt an aircraft/balloon/bird/firework/lantern - so i dont know what it was.

I told my da and he just gave me a funny look so i said no more and never told anyone else, and actually just forgot about it. I have no idea what it was.

Denying all the evedence and global accounts is the unrational approach.

What evidence is there apart from anecdotes?. Take a look at possibly THE two most famous cases in the world to date - Roswell and Rendlesham. Apart from 'he saw this' and 'she saw that' what actual evidence is there?.

Oh sorry...Rendlesham had 'landing prints' which turned out to be rabbit scrapings. Laughing
