This place is seriously weird. In case you've never been, its a small square Jacobean keep style building, with lots of small panelled rooms,no furniture, just painted panels and sometimes drapes, and the odd painted design on ceilings and panels.
Most of the rooms have large marble fireplaces. Its like a srtrange fantasy castle.
On the side of this Jacobean keep, is a ruin of an Elizabethan manor that was destroyed in the Civilwar, and then next to that is a large Jacobean riding school.
I've spoken to the staff there and the list of odd events is this:
1. Some one being pushed down a staircase by invisible hands
2. One member of English heritage staff was crying in one of the on suite cupboards because of home problems , and she felt a small hand hold hers as if to comfort her.
3. Footsteps and the sound of a dress dragging across the floor above the toilet block in the riding school...theres no accessible floor above the toilet block.
4. Security picking up a candle glow making its way past the stairs windows in the riding school
5. Securtiy cameras in the riding school detected objects moving in the riding school after dark.
6. Sound of horses hooves through gift shop, which is a modern building in the entrance to the site .
7. One of the members of staff was hoovering on the staircase in the Jacobean keep, and felt the cord of the hoover being tugged, when no-one else was their. She went down to see what was happening, went back up the stairs to where the hoover was, and it had been ,mov3ed to a different level.
8. Guests being slapped and pinched in the kitchen of the Jacobean keep.
9. Ghost of a boy being seen walking the battlements
10. Vision of a woman throwing a baby into the large kitchen fire
11. Mrs Robbins room door (ex house keeper) sometimes can't be opened in the morning. 10 minutes later, it will open.
I've witnessed sevral weird things myself. I've smelt like a perfume/ spicey smell in one of the rooms. We asked the custodian about ti, and they say they've smelt it before and can't figure it out.
I've also had a very strange warmth above my head in the Jacobean keep. All most like walking under a bar heater. There was nothing.
And best of all, I took a photo of a white figure standing on the stairs of the Jacobean keep.
The ghosts are said to be of a friendly house keeper, a not so friendly house keep, a boy and various other spirits. |

How horrible. Do you have any information on this occurrence?
On second thought maybe it would be best not to hear.

We would all like to see this photo.
Would you be willing to share it with us?

Oh good Camperman!
We would all enjoy hearing of your experience while you were there.

Wow! I've been to Bolsover Castle several times, paintdisorder, but haven't seen or heard a thing. Although parts of the quirky Keep (it has real character) have made me go cold, or made me feel uncomfortable. I certainly wouldn't want to live there with all that going on! And you caught something on camera! |
