In my Aura postings I mentioned the Mind Body and Spirit Fair my sister & I attended today at Newark Showground, Notts. She convinced me to have a Reiki session.

The lady from Phoenix Holistic Therapy made me fill out a 'disclaimer form' first. This concerned medical history, etc. [The 2002 car accident I've mentioned in my NDE post. I still have the scars and a limp.]

She told me it would be a 'taster' of 10-15 mins. Not the 'full session' of 1 hour. And that it was designed to be 'therapeutic' to those parts of me that need it. [These turned out to be my lower back, right arm, left leg, and stomach.]

My eyes were closed the whole time. Throughout the session I felt more calm and relaxed than I had in ages. When she placed hands on my head, shoulders, back, and chest, all tensions eased away. In fact I felt detached from everything around me!

Those areas seemed to radiantly glow. [She'd got me to envisage a 'Sun travelling round my body'. I pictured that literally. But it was being gently pushed by a 'path of energy'. This coiled and twisted through me like a snake - I 'saw' it as one.]

The first and last 'scene' I pictured was a still lake with snow-capped mountains beyond. It was overhung with blossom trees and willows. On an island was a Japanese-like shrine with a Buddhist monk and gong. He struck this when I first closed my eyes, and just before I opened them. This marked the 'beginning' and 'end' of the 'journey' I had undertaken.

On that 'journey' I 'saw' myself as an eagle. flying above those mountains. I soared above the Earth, but was now a dove. It looked so beautiful viewed from space. As the 'Sun' returned to its starting point I saw a variety of images, including a rainforest and the Sphinx and Pyramids. Throughout I did have the sensation of flying, feeling beating wings, gliding in air currents, wind rustling feathers, the warmth of the Sun... .

It is a 'magical' experience I would recommend to anyone... .

Wow, Alex! Those images are beautiful. Sounds like a Shamanic Experience. And the Reiki seems to have gone where it was most needed. Is that how it works, as I've never had a treatment myself Question

Alex, is this a type of massage or just laying of the hands?

Sounds relaxing.

It is very calming and relaxing indeed. And can be done 'hands on', 'hands off', or both ways, as Reiki works, from what I can make out, using the body's own 'energies' (following the meridians, chakras, etc) and heat. Reiki healing goes where it is most needed in the body. With me those areas most requiring 'treatment' are my left leg and lower back (both resulting from my 2002 car accident). And it helps me sleep, because sometimes I have trouble with that. Smile If you want to find out more about it, then there is a useful guide at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiki#Healing

I've had Reiki, as well as Crystal Healing, done by my sister who has qualified in both therapies. But also by other therapists too. My sister has taught me several exercises and techniques. I have quite a semi-precious stone collection myself, a number of which I use for personal healing purposes.

Some might say it's just the Placebo effect Bitter.

There's a time to believe in this type of healing and knowing
when to go to your Doctor.
Thanks for the article DB. Very informative.

It really depends on the individual, Agentscott. With my sister, myself and a family friend, yes. With my late mother not so much. Depends whether you are 'atuned' or not. If you are 'open-minded', rather than being a 'closed door' [like a certain individual in these forums], it does help. Wink

Why?. In what way are you suggesting I'm 'bitter'?.
I don't tend to suffer from indigestion unless I swallow a story that doesn't agree with me Wink

Laughing Me neither, Agentscott Wink

You can also 'trip out on Acid', DB. Might broaden your horizons. And take you to a Happy Place. dance

But...then again...there's nothing like a healthy Dose of Cynicism, eh? Neutral

I tried that - and nearly threw myself off a Motorway Bridge. YOu're confusing Cynicism with Scepticism - look them up...please and while you're at it look up Multiple Personality Disorder Wink
