Just stumbled upon this site whilst once again researching haunting topics .

I moved into my renovated flat / apartment three years ago now, and have experienced on and off periods of strange stuff. I appreciate there may well be rational explanations for some of the incidents, but I just have a feeling there is something here. Albeit, I do not feel anything bad is here whatever the eplanation may be. The flat is rather large, and is a renovated upstairs building over an old shop. The building is dated 1700s and has now been changed into a motor showroom.

Anyway, when I moved in with my two daughters , we all loved the place, its obvious my landlord has spent a lot of time and effort on it. There were a few little things within a few days, heard scratching sounds on several of the walls, this happened intermmitently over first year but not every day maybe noticeably several times over a period of days and then nothing for seveeral weeks, my opinion was probably mice as they were still working on the downstairs. The girls heard it a few times and a friend was here one night and heard it, there were sometimes tapping noises too, but they were never really loud , so once again i put this down to mice. As time went on the scratching seemed to disappear. there were later a few ocassions when random things would go missing , sometimes for a day or two, other times several months, and would then turn up where i first looked for them, nothing serious i know but was sometimes exasperating. I suffer with night terrors, and go through phases of having these, anyway as you can imagine, this adds to unease in the early hours. On one ocassion though, I awoke in the early hours to see what looked like a huge silver grey orb, solid and heavy looking yet a bit like a dandelion clock, cannot explain it any other way, it was suspended above me and for a few seconds i believed it to be real and thought it would crush me, then it disappeared. I took this to be another terror and thought no more of it, however about a year later I had a chat with my landlords wife about some of the weird happenings and she said they had experienced things go missing, and that she had actually seen a ghost walking along the hallway . S he then went on to describe one night where she had woken up to see a huge grey orb over he and her husband just as I had experienced, this did scare me a bit I have to admit, as she had no prior knowledge of my experience. Other things happened too, I have an attic above converted into a spare room, fully done out , we use it for storage. Shortly after the time my new partner moved in, I noticed the attic door being wide open when I got home from work etc, on many ocassions over a few months. We put this down to draughts and tried to rationalise it. The attic is not heated and so it is very cold in the winter months so we keep the door shut for obvious reasons. I noticed more bits and bobs go missing around the time my now husband moved in. I then had a party with a few friends and this involved a tarot reader doing our cards, he was amazing with us all, we were dead impressedwith the accuracy. He did tell me my flat has two spirits, an old chatterbox lady in the attic, and an old man in the end bedroom who was a bit shady in his living years but not an eveil spirit of any kind to be feared. This obviously interested me and so a friend of a friend who is a psychic investigator , and is said to be able to communicate with spirit made a visit to the flat. I began to say that we had seen a card reader etc but he asked me not to give any details. He came and spent time in each room undertaking questions and evp? readings, he said the same as the card reader, there were two ghosts one male one female in the flat, the male was attached as he used to do a lot of business here in his living days, when it was somesord of warehousev / trade building. He said the spirit was communicating with him telling him someone kept leaving money and stuff about and he would move or take it. (Nothing was picked up with evp playback though)

There have been random puddles of water in the kitchen which appeared quite often for a few months, but because this was a few feet from my washer we put it down to this, and in time they seemed to stop. A few weeks ago we both woke up randomly at 3.33 am , this has only happened once so perhaps of no importance. A week ago we were both awoken by the doorbell at 5am, nobody there of course! We went through a phase of several electrical things going wrong, cooker, shower, etc, and my living room goes throughh bulbs at a ridiculous rate, yet other rooms seem to be ok. One other incident which happend a bit back, both me and my husband were watching a scary movie, and no word of a lie, right at the end when the music and words started, there was a loud bang in the flat which made us both jump in fright, yet we could not locate the source?? My reason for finally posting and asking the question now is because this morning i awoken abrubptly from a dream about being at a local pub listening to a band, by a femal voice in my ear saying no no no, it sounded fast and like it was fearful. This shook me somewhat, although on afterthought it could have been a dream, it just didnt fit with the dream I was having.
Very in depth , and not necessarily anything spooky, but I have to share because the more things that happen the more questions i have, my other half says there will be rational eplanations, and yes i can see that too, but something tells me not.

if you hadnt of had your cards read would you of still thought it was something else other than rational explanations?
the scratching could of been mice in the walls, i wouldnt be suprised with it just been renovated.
the orb could of been an illusionation (is that spelt right Confused )
i tend to see things when ive just woke up or half asleep lol
the bulbs popping could just be the electrics
the bulb in my sitting room never last more than 2weeks at a time, i tend to use a lamp now Wink

have you tried setting a camera up to see if you can catch anything, worth a try Smile

I agree, these things are probably explainable, and to be fair we seem to have quiet phases then lots of little things which bring my worries to the fore again. Ive not set up a camera, only got mobile phone camera, but its worth a thought Smile
Yes the card reader did raise my suspicions somewhat, but when the psychic confirmed the same info without prior knowledge it did spook me Confused

Thanks for sensible response and advice Very Happy

your welcome

but even if the card reader and physic are right they both said they are friendly spirits and mean you no harm Wink
still, it can be spooky, i know from experience, i grew up in a haunted house
we had the missing objects a lot, they always turned up again a few days/weeks later
try not to worry about it, most the time they just do it to let you know they are there (or so ive been told lol)

Bit more to report, again probably explainable, but I will tell. Several days ago I had just woken and was in that relaxed slow wake up state, I then felt something tickling the side of my face, forehead and cheek, almost like a caress but very soft. I instinctively went to brush it away, but obviously nothing was there. Anyway last night after falling asleep, I began to have a frightening dream, I cannot remember all the facts, but I was afraid. However, An old man I used to work with who recently died appeared in the dream, looking just as he did when he was alive, I knew he was dead, but because he was nice to me in life, I knew he wasnt a scary factor of the dream. However, my dad then joined him (I have not seen my dad in 20 years, we are estranged) and I began to feel strange, at this point I was awoken by the smoke alarm beeping in my bedroom. I was quite unsettled at this point. My husband removed the battery as the noise was loud and I told him of the dream. I then fell back to sleep, only for the dream to come again but in a less scary way. Iremember the man I used to work with showing up again, the dream centred on him this time, and he brought my father in with his arm around him, I got the feeling he wanted me to accept him? I was then awoken with a start with the doorbell ringing (Like before, there was nobody there) As you can imagine I was unsettled by all of this, and I am trying to remain objective, but this is all a bit weird.
Any thoughts?

What was the cause of the smoke alarm being triggered? Unless you get a flat-battery warning, removing the battery is what you don't do, you remove the cause.
It's not unusual to dream that you've heard your doorbell, it has happened to me several times.

Perhaps, subconciously, you want to rebuild your relationship with your father and a friendly face is your minds way of trying to get the ball rolling.

Thanks guys Smile Both smoke alarm and doorbell awoke us both, they werent dreamed. Also my daughter told me she heard the doorbell late on saturday night whilst my husband and I were out (found this out after posting) Have added new batteries to all items yesterday, so will take it from there. Re my dad, yes theres always the urge to see him, it was just the fact both times in one night to dream of the now dead friend and both times to be awoken by alarms,,,, again plausible explanations, but weird nonetheless. I know its irrational , but I just feel there is 'something' . I suppose without a visual (WHICH I REALLY DONT WANT) i will never know Sad

Was this the ghost of Amy Winehouse? i think not, but could not resist saying it. One thing that most people have in common, when they think they are being haunted. Is they all get someone "WHO CAN SENCE THESE THINGS". The truth is we all can sence these things. You already have said you saw and heard things. What i always do and would always recommend, is that you treat spirits as if they were a living person. If you already know their are 2 spirits in the house, then try to communicate with them, as you would with two living people.

Thanks Will, its been all quiet on the western front for the last few days, so will leave it be (not because I'm a wuss or anything) ;-), but, the next time something weird happens, I will try and be brave and say something, like please dont ring my bell at silly hours! No, I will try and say hello, or something like and take it from there. I will report back any incidents should they arise Smile
