this is an old post of mine, but will add it anyhow, then reply with my current thoughts after..
heres something of interest to me...
at what level of knowledge, experience, awareness, communication can you call yourself a medium ???
i and many people are what i call sensitive to spirit..
i can see, sense, smell, and have felt physical touch from spirit...
i have developed more so in the last few years..and currently attend a development group, and can when "open" on my own accord..get images visually and mentally from spirit in the way of descriptions, messages, symbols etc
so does this mean i could be classed as a medium..or are their certain provisions for this entitlement ??
i thought maybe you couldnt class yourself as a medium untill you had full control over all communications with spirits and your own guides.. |

without a doubt i would have to say that i would never call myself a medium untill i reach that point in my development and communication that i can fluently communicate, and have full control and fully trust my guides.
communication is the key,and its not as easy as you may think,we work with colour, symbols etc,so untill this is in perfect order,i wld like to call myself a developing medium/sensitive |

Interesting question Angelwings but I am not sure if there is a set bar for calling yourself a medium and I often wonder whether mediums do receive more than you mention above and just interpret what they get further. I have a close friend who is clairvoyant, sees things externally, has heard voices etc, but has difficulty accepting that he is contacting the other side. He has had very few experiences where he believes he has encountered something displaying an intelligence. He started having experiences when he was 16 and then found out his aunty and great aunt before her were spiritualist mediums. Some of the images he recieves are similar to those his relatives have seen and their interpretation of the images seems to fit well. For instance, if he see's a blue baby someone may interpret that as a boy, where in his experience and that of his family it is usually a still born or miscarriage. This makes me wonder if iconic imagery varies between sensitives and mediums or maybe it has something to do with how you were introduced to the art.

i can understand that,i know myself that you have to learn what means what to you,for example what i may get symbolically as say a pair of scissors may mean cutting ties with someone/thing (TO ME) but another person may get the same scissors and it may mean something completly different..
maybe i havnt worded my post very well, but yes i understand what you say. |
