|
|
Nothing special I thought I would share a pic of our basic hunt kit for those interested or a newbie who may not know what a basic kit looks like. All kits are different, but this one is designed to fit together nicely and set up and pack up fast.
DVR, IR thermometer, red/white LED head lamp, Tri-Field meter, K2 Meter.
We also use handheld Sony HI8 analog to digital recorder which has one of the best night modes I've seen in many units. also a Kodak Z612 digital camera.
Not an extensive amount of equipment but it gets the job done. We are looking at some wireless night cams and a handheld EMF thats not as sensitive as the tri-field which can pick up people on the other side of a wall or a cell phone 40 ft away at times LOL.

I have heard of others using a static meter, the problem I think would be that it will pick up some erratic readings on carpet or static emitting devices say like monitors etc even cats and long hair will trigger one to an extent. |

Do you have some locations in mind for your hunt? |

There are quite a few supposed active sites around us including the Funeral Home where the pics were taken. We sort of got labeled as those "guys" who know about this stuff because of my previous research. So we get asked a lot of paranormal questions and inevitably we get the "Well you should come out to our place and check it out" invite. So after a lot of those invites and a lot of personal experiences we decided to try to get something recorded, some sort of possible proof so these people would at least know they were not going crazy. |

MRX,
Of the places you have been invited to investigate, how many of those locations have you come up with 'findings'?

There have been far to many to keep track of but I would guess it's pretty close to half the ones we have been to we have witnessed or recorded something out of the ordinary, well not really it's all pretty ordinary for us :) We only go to the ones that sound promising. It's pretty easy to tell if you have a possible hit or just something explainable. Most are easily explained away, however just because something can be explained away that does not diminish the potential value of a claim. |

MRX,
When you say "most are easily explained away" what exactly do you mean? |

One good example would be mysterious lights that turn out to be simple reflections of car lights. Lights flickering may be faulty wiring or a bad bulb. One of my favorites which actually may have been an active place was a place of business in a busy mall. Reports of motion detectors going off, toys flying off shelves shadow people etc. Turns out the main detector were was old and malfunctioning but the other claims were not as easy to explain away as there were many random witnesses such as customers who had no clue of the places activity.
Another example was a door knob trying to turn, turned out to be simple house cats jumping on a box and reaching the knob LOL.
Creaky floors (footsteps) sometimes turn out to be a house simply settling or wood or metal expanding due to a temperature drop. It's easy to get caught up in an investigation and start seeing and hearing what you may want to. The hardest part sometimes is to remain as unbiased as you can until you have all the proof you need to know you have something that adds up to a probable phenomena. |

Guess our imaginations can really run amok.
Do you ever find yourself disappointed on finding that there is a logical reason for the 'hauntings'?

Yes I actually have seen what we thought was great evidence that later turned out to be something explainable but there are many that remain unexplained and you have to remember, that validates the reason we go out there and sit and wait in the dark :) |

Sounds like it would be so much fun to do that.
Even if you have to wait in the dark!
Do you have a 'team'?
