im not familiar with "all" of these procedures
having performed/aided post mortems myself
In the UK ..the abdominal skin is NOT placed over the face, that is done as a seperate procedure when you expose the dura/brain.
back to point 6
faeces are normally depositied via the anus (as normal) either shortly after death has occured (yes most of us poo ourselves) and any remaining normally are exited the same way as pressure on removing the intestines causes it to expell.
number 10..
your remaining organs are placed within a bag, with your brain (if not retained) and are placed inside your abdominal cavity, sometimes if there are still fluid present talcolm powder can be used for absorbtion prior to this...you abdoman is then sewn closed.
the cavity in which your brain was situated, will be filled with "wadding" and closed up.
it is a truly facinating subject on the whole, the human bosy is simply facinating |

i find it all evry interesting how the body can tell you so much after death but i didnt know all the facts till now.five years ago my mum passed over and she had to have it done,it was bad enough having watched all the progs i have.knowing my mum who i love so much had to have that done upset me but if i knew then what i now know i would of been much much worse. |

your right casper to feel this way,as do many relatives,I think what eases ones feelings of this procedure is that it is a legal requirement. It is very important to determine the cause of death, for the legal/medical side of things and to the families.
If truth be told about this,it may not look very pleasant, but its rather like having an operation, your loved ones are allways treated with respect, and dignity in mind, its often considered a work of art to perform such procedures, and the post mortem if done correctly (depending on any previous trauma to the patient) should leave minimal scarring visible to family members if they choose to see their loved ones in the chapel of rest or funeral home afterwards. |

your mum was quite obviously looked after very well.
So many ppl have negative comments on this,as they view the not so nice aspects,or watch too much television or vid clips....Its actually a shame ppl arnt educated about this procedure, maybe then they may see this in a whole different light,At the end of the day "most" of us will have this done ourselves. |

well i can only hope that im treated as nicely after death as my mum was.i realise it has to be done but found it a bit upsetting that she couldnt be allowed to rest in peace,i realise some people would proberly disagree with me on this and would say she had already crossed over by the time it was done but she was my mum and my best friend and she deserved the very best eg to go without being cut open and messed around with. |
