out-of-body experience

An out-of-body experience is usually involuntary. From one moment to the next, with no warning, you are suddenly aware of being quite seperate from your own physical body, which you can see as if watching a stranger.
This kind of experience is quite differant from using the Astral Body to travel. in astral travel you consciously will yourself out of your body, and your second self can be seen as clearly as your real body. An out-of-body experience is a private experience, undetected by anyone else, and normally takes you by surprise.

I remember as a child having such an experience, it was really cool. I can remember seeing myself on the couch and traveling around the house, in the end I floated back into myself, it was a very strange occurence that has never left me since.
