THE MESSENGERS
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Dylan McDermott
There is evidence to suggest that children are highly susceptible to paranormal phenomena. They see what adults cannot. They believe what adults deny. And they are trying to warn us.
I saw The Messengers over the weekend, expecting another cheesy horror movie, but have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised.
Not particularly original, but still a well shot film that combines aspects of various classics (including Hitchcock´s The Birds, albeit in only one scene!) to good effect. The storyline is solid, performances decent and it certainly makes a change from some of the awful slasher (regarded as so-called horror) movies that have been served up of late.
Released: In the US ages ago, but here in the UK last weekend!
Worth seeing: 7/10 |

You're welcome bitterbuck1. Not heard too much on tv about it, but worth seeing. I only caught it by chance after getting too much sun on Sunday!
There's a clip from it here :) |

Glad you liked the clips... did you get to see the film yet?
One other comment I'll make is that although Kristen Stewart was good in the role, I just read that Scout Taylor-Compton had auditioned for it (she'll be in the remake of Halloween... now that is a bad career move!).
I remember ST-C from a few episodes of Charmed a couple of years back and think she might actually have made a better Jess in The Messengers.
And for an online friend of mine who visits the the WoG forum quite often... you know who you are(!)... the movie's out in Brazil on 20th April, so only 2 weeks after being released here (in the UK).. so stop complaining |

This is how I usually see movies......
See trailer on T.V..
Mention that we must go and see it.
Days later, remember about the movie.
Months down the road, see the movie at Block Buster and then rent the DVD.
I'll be sure to see it G.T., but it may be when it comes out on DVD. |

Hope everything's ok and works out for you flossy :)
I've not been going to the cinema much and harder to motivate myself when it's so hot, but sometimes I find it nice just to sit down in the dark, surrounded by strangers and lose myself for a couple of hours...
I sound like a psycho now!!!
Enjoy the movie if and when you get to see it |

I didn't get to see that movie, but my favourite movie concerning ghosts is "The Others". Bar none my favourite. For once the filmakers really "got" it.
Personally I don't like a lot of scary movies because they are so counter productive to what I do. I try to get ghosts and people to coexist peacefully, to understand the other...not perpetuate the tired myth of all ghosts are evil and must be run out of "your" house. |
