Stop and walk away

We were out on the trail of a serial killer a cold heartless ruthless monster, i found a clue and turned to my partner. Who was shaking and looked like they had gone mad.

"They have to die, poison was the only option" The old man was shaking "they were in the way, i put cocaine and other poisons in their wine and foodstuffs, they were in the way, they have to die" You wasnt supposed to find out, the old man was nearly 72 years old and his handgun dropped to the floor, he dropped to his knees "They were in the way, they had to die" he kept repeating "they fell asleep in the car"

I drew my glock 32, and raised it he looked up briefly as the high velocity shot rang out, and he slumped to the floor.

"God im sorry" i whispered "but you wouldnt stop"

i turned and walked away..
