was very well written in the first three seasons, we will not talk of the fourth season,(Airwolf II -a disgrace to the original series). The scenes were spectacular and the plots where well knitted in most of the episodes. I liked the attention to detail and the ability for it to be fairly believable, despite the fictional capability of Airwolf. The characters complimented each other and made very dynamic. Even the music created by S. Levay was really good. It is very unfortunate that the series ended the way it did. Jan M. Vincent had problems with alcohol and the politics with universal infringed on Bellisario's ideas. The "lady" did not go down with a blaze of glory but rather an un-answered and open ended destruction with the final series. I think that is why so many enthusiast still hang on to , it was a killer show that just suddenly ended, even though the ratings were so high. It would be cool to have a new movie produced to give Airwolf a final resting place in T.V. history. But that is unlikely. However, there are all kinds of fan clubs and sites that celebrate this one of a kind 80's show, you will see that Airwolf is very much alive out on the internet. C.L. |

Any show that combines Ernest Borgnine with Jan Michael Vincent is asking to be rubbish.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but for me the definitive 80's TV series is Knight Rider.
The mechanics behind the scenes of KITT driving it/him self were fantastic and they did use several cars in different guises for certain stunts, which are noticable at 29 years old but not 7.
One thing that makes the dream a little bit more possible is the fact that you can buy the groin crushing jeans, leather jacket and random shirt, grow a mullet and BUY THE CAR, or at least the kit to make a KITT replica, you can even have every little detail down to the twin TV monitors and voice module.
Air wolf was in a class of its own but I feel Knight Rider set the standard. |

But WHY would you want to?

Id do that tommorow if money allowed DB, I think it may be down to reliving your youth.
Maybe id give the leather and denims a miss though, but its the magic of the show and the emotions it stirred in people from a young age.
I bet half of the people on the Airwolf fan site have a model, more than likely radio control. WHY? Because it stirrs up emotions, they can have a break from the mundane life of worrying about morgages, they can go out and have there own little bubble of peace while they re live a part of there youth or at least a mission.
My garage contains several RC models, one is a re release of a car that my brother gave to me when I was 10 its long since met its demise, but why did I, at 29, buy a re release of it? To relive a part of my youth, summer afternoons sending up clouds of dust and jumping it over next doors cat or winter evenings sliding around in the snow.
A full size KITT would be the same, but of course youd have to give the jumps a miss. |
