i saw something weird lastnight
it was after midnight and i let the dog out before i went to bed, i looked up at the stars and i saw 2 orange flashes, i thought a plane but then nothing
i kept looking didnt see any plane
then as i was looking at the stars one began to move, pretty fast too then disapeared
i was pretty stunned and havent a clue what i saw
it was pretty high up so couldnt see any shape, well like i said i thought it was a star as it was still untill it started moving |

Great news Flossy,
that sounds like a decent sighting and I have read many times that UFO's do like to hide and mimic stars, pop out of clouds ect.
Orange is also the colour of whats being mostly reported at the moment so this certenly is intriging, so now we do have more odd things appearing in the sky.
So it was stationary and then moved off? A white star? After orange flashes. |

There is a possibility you spotted a satelite flossy but personaly i'm ruling that out as satelites or the ISS don't stop and then move of so I think thats that ruled out.
Strangly I have had the odd minor sighting like this one where I spotted a satelite but then a second catch up and then they went behind cloud, interesting.
Take a good look at the sightings because then you can take you time to see where they are commonly showing up near you and know in advance what potentualy to look for. |

i thought maybe a satalite or a shooting start out in space, but it set off from a stand still moved very fast then vanished
im thinking the flashes might of been trick of the eye??
i dont know?
its got me very intrigued, so im gonna go out tonight for a bit and just sit and watch the sky lol |

Good idea Flossy, sounds fun, It's adictive once you get bitten by the bug! sometimes people do get repeat sightings and see things return back the second night and this sounds to odd to be a satelite, high ufo's will look almost the same so if this thing suddenly moved off then it couldn't have been a satelite.
I'm not sure about the flashes although I have heard others mention them, I think one possible reason is iridium flashes where light is reflected off of a object and we see a flash, not orange though. I dont beleive thats what you spotted though, a coincedence that a satelite decides to go off on it's own course from a standstill. , Perhaps they were connected somehow, that depends how far away the flashes were from the what ever it was.
Well spoted Flossy. |

The orange flashes could have been an aircraft or maybe an eye aberration. The Bright light that moved fast then vanished could have been a satellite or the ISS moving out of sunlight.

i thought the same thing when i saw the flashes, i waiting to see the plane and there was nothing
it was a pretty clear night lastnight, so no clouds for it to hide behind, but i put them down to maybe trick of the eye
the moving object though i dont know what that was?
still pretty cool to see though |

If you looked at the 'star' and it was stationary then started to move - it coul not be the ISS or a satelite or star/planet.
The two flashes remind me of this:

I'm not saying this is what it was; it just reminded me of it.
The object I saw also looked like a star.
Do you think there is any chance it was a chinese lantern? |

when you looked up to see a plane; how long were you looking at the stars before one started moving? |
