Hi thecactus, and thank you for the reply. I had heard also to never ask for physical proof during an Ouija board session, that it's just asking for trouble, however I'd never heard about anything benevolent not asking for permission. I'm wondering, has there ever been a case of making contact with a benevolent spirit?
I try to err on the side of caution, as I've heard of cases of really terrible things happening after a malevolent presence is invited in.
It appears we all have some control up to the point of permission being granted or denied. I too tend to agree that recording EVP isn't inviting something in that wasn't already present, but I'm rather new to all this so I'm not that conversant with the subject yet. It's fascinating though!

I have actually never used a ouija myself, and I have no plans to do so in the future, as I do believe they could be dangerous.
I also really have no interest personally, in visual and audio recording of spirits, and the whole 'investigating' side of the paranormal. |

I wouldn't use an Ouija board either after hearing almost universally negative experiences about them. I don't really have much interest in visual recording of spirits as I have no reason to believe I've experienced anything paranormal outside of the accidental EVP I recorded years ago.
I might experiment with audio recording, but not to any great extent, and have no desire to try to prove the existence of spirits, but the subject is interesting in an eerie, tingly sort of way.

i did the ouja years ago when i was younger and again a couple of year ago, nothing bad or good came of it
i like everyone else have heard the storys thats its really bad and you can open doorways ect ect
but i would have to believe it to see it myself, if it were that dangerous then why do they sell it as a toy
a lot of people think it is our subconscious moving the planchet and to be honest i think that is more believable |

Hello flossy,
I have heard that it's ideomotor reflex at work, or that it isn't the board itself that's dangerous. Some say that it's the person using it, in other words, it's what the person brings to the Ouija board session. I have tried using the board, some years ago, by myself, and absolutely nothing happened. Perhaps I'm lacking in imagination.
I really wouldn't want to try using it at home, if there really is a danger in its use I would hate to bring something onto my family.

Michael Dennis, personally I believe in 'life after death' and that ghosts/spirits do exist, but I just don't agree with investigating for physical evidence. |

Hi flossy,
Maybe that was a good thing, that I tried it solo and got no results. Y'see, on the one hand I'm curious and would kinda like to give it a proper try, but on the other I don't want to call in something bad I can't get rid of. So, I haven't done any attempts with another person, not since I tried in 1994 with a co-worker at a hotel I used to work at.
We had barely started when the diningroom of the restaurant, where we were trying it out, at one of the tables, (this was after the restaurant was closed, late at night), suddenly got very cold. Wow, that weirded me out, but I suppose it could've been a sudden blast from the air conditioning, and it was summer at the time so that would've been in operation.
I sure wouldn't want to try it in my own home.

Thanks flossy, and here a couple posts earlier I thought I had no imagination at all. Turns out I have more than I bargained for. Those times I did work the board solo with nothing happening it was in my house.
