So in short I'm seeking help on behalf of my mother. She is a very conventional 53 yr old woman who likes to rationalise everything. She does not want to believe in the paranormal..she believes in ignorance is bliss for fear of being frightened I think. She is as conventional and straight laced as they come!
Well over the last 6yrs when she moved into her current home she often wakes at night to feel a presence standing beside her bed. This makes her shrink into herself with fear..until she falls asleep. Well the night before last she awoke to find a 'ghost' standing looking at her.she was 100% awake, and although she didn't feel it posed a threat at the time she has since become petrified. She is finding it very hard to put into words what she saw..but described it as about 3/4 foot tall, a female with wavy shoulder length hair. It was a kind of muted green glowing colour. It had no features..just dark shadows where eyes, nose, mouth should of been. She said although she feels it posed no threat the facial area was not nice to look at. She is trying with all the will in the world to convince herself she is crazy or her mind is playing tricks on her but the basis is...she knows what she saw!
Now pls can anyone shed any light on similar experiences or why this might be happening now? We are both very naive to this type of thing so any knowledge or advice would be gratefully received.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, Emma xx |

hi emma welcome to the forum
there are no rules on how the world of ghosts work, if there was we wouldnt be here
maybe its just letting your mum know that its there
if she acknowledges its presence it could just leave her alone, worth a try |

Hi flossy. Thank you for the welcome and Im looking forward to getting involved in the forum. Personally I would be looking at sleep disorders first and foremost before suggesting anything paranormal. There is hard evidence of sleep disorders and generally little more than anecdotal evidence for the ghosts. But saying that it dosnt stop me trying to find evidence of their existence. Im one of those boring skeptics, but I do really want to be convinced.

Hi Spudgun, I know your mum says she was 100% awake but this sounds like a typical night terror experience or hypnopompia to me. Please tell your mum not to be afraid as there's nothing really to be afraid of in reality.
